After two weekends of test runs, Burger Tyme will officially open Thursday in the former Wendy's location at 3300 Johnston St.

The news of Burger Tyme's return sent a wave of nostalgia across Cajun Country last month. The iconic south Louisiana fast-food chain of the 1990s is best known for the Cajun Blaze burger and Bon Temps Poulet chicken sandwich.

Do we have confirmation that they will be using Peter Boulet's recipes and ingredients ? If not this will be a big letdown to the fans of the original Burger Tyme.

Agreed.

But PJ’s Grill in Crowley will get you close if this new Cajun Blaze isn’t the same.

I had it twice. Once about a year ago when he was doing the pop ups at cafe cottage and this past weekend at the new location. The first time wasn’t close to the original Cajun Blaze. The one I had this past weekend was closer but it doesn’t taste the same to me. It was way too salty and both times were a cluster frick. Ordered online 3 days ahead of time and I had to wait in line for 45 minutes. Not worth it.

I thought that was a joke. We ordered it, and it wasn’t good.

I’d rather have a burger at PJs in Crowley.

I didn’t think it was terrible but it wasn’t like the old Cajun Blaze. The fries were pretty good. Never heard of PJs. They have a good burger?

You from or live in Laffy ? If you ever listened to Mr. Bitter on ESPN1420am radio, PJ's was a huge sponsor and talked about all the time. FYI - PJ's has solid groceries and the new building is very cool, gorgeous woodwork from an old barn.

Very similar to watching a train wreck.

The drive thru line was backed up to Vital at 1055 this a.m. Yeah, I don't think I'll bother any time soon. I trust the guys on here that ate the original and had this reincarnation. You would probably be quicker driving to Crowley thru PJ's drive thru than waiting in line here !

The fried catfish and fried shrimp from PJ’s is pretty darn good too.

Stayed away today but may try tomorrow. I once worked at the location by the mall.

The pictures from The Advocate article about it coming back looked gross.

I saw that crap. No way I’m waiting an hour for a mediocre $8 burger. Life’s too short.

If it's too crowded for you, you can always go with either of these (both within 500 feet of Burger Tyme), and you won't be disappointed
