When I watch it I will give as much information as I can without breaking my contract. Thanks again.

There has to be more to the interaction with GR than what was shown I'd assume. Its the only explanation as to why Hetal go to stay.

Jesse started to move and returned to his stove. The GR said "Jesse get your arse down here". You knew it was going to be bad at that moment.

Yep, I thought well this isn't going to end well.

That didn't bother me much. I figured Jesse's thought process was "ya it's me...wait, I'm not going down that easily..."

GR's tone was not his mad tone to me.

Good job Jesse. We still have Jay Ducote on that other show, right?

Does MC bring back a contestant to compete again or is that some other show?

I've watched them all but I don't remember.
I know Top Chef has that "last chance kitchen" thing.

Anyone still watching? I am. Tommy is a hoot. He's coming into his own.

Yes I do. LAst night he was wearing his Little House on the Prairie shirt.

His food looked good. Evidently the Taste was spot on, too.

Steven should have picked gumbo for the pressure test. No one was going to get a good product in an hour and Derrick would have had a helluva time making it in 30 minutes. However, the gumbo Gordon showed them looked like anything but gumbo. I don't care if you call it Creole gumbo. It was RED period.

I thought the very same thing.

I looked and asked the wife, "What is that, because it isn't gumbo?" I liked the little strip of fried okra on the top.

If that is what they think gumbo should be, then all would have failed.

I rewound to look at it again to make sure I'd seen what I thought I saw. I don't even think they could have made whatever was in that bowl taste good in an hour. Tommy might have come close to something authentic since he's got the Louisiana roots, but he's apparently got multiple roots.

They did it the season with the blind girl.

Have y'all ever watched the UK or Austalian versions of MC? Very different... much more about the actual food, very little drama. Not necessarily better or worse just nothing alike.

He is definitely getting better. His bananas fosters looked delicious.

I'm pulling for Derek to win it all.

Yes, I think Stephen knew that Gumbo would give Tommy an advantage, so he stayed away from it. When he selected the dish, he didn't know that he would be able to take 30 minutes away from Derrick. Had he known that, he could have killed Derrick with a 30 minute gumbo. Instead he gave him a shot with the chicken and waffles and Derrick got a good sound plate out with time to spare and the lesser cooks failed, IMO because they flubbed the chicken.

Who can't fry chicken? I don't know why anyone would fail fried chicken with an hour to do it.

Soak in Buttermilk, coat in seasoned flour (secret blend of 13 herbs and spices) and keep temperature at just below 350. Don't burn it. Result? Decent fried Yard Bird.

Oh by the way - I would have told everyone that I saw Derrick as the best most skilled competitor and that because of that I needed to cut his time by 30 minutes, and then I would have left him alone. To stand on the balcony and harass him was pretty bad form. When He did well, I would have responded with a bow to him and sincere congratulations for doing a good job.

In cooking competitions, there is no shame in thinking someone else is a good cook.

Wouldn't mind that.

Big surprise they have the vegetarian comp next week with the veggie as a team captain.

As long as she or the chubby one don't win, I'm good with it.

Yeah, Steven acted the arse on the balcony, but he wasn't as bad as I expected him to be. Regardless of not knowing the 30 minute deal, gumbo would have been the hardest except that I have no idea what in the hell was in that bowl of red soup. Tommy might have actually made a dark roux and that may have sent him home for doing it right!

ETA: Derrick isn't exactly my favorite personality either. I think he's a good cook, though. I'd sort of like to see Tommy get the win for fun.

I would have picked the gumbo for sure. Chicken and waffles should have been an easy task in an hour... easy enough to get it done in half an hour.
