My son has high school baseball playoffs against Buckeye High School Thursday -Saturday and we have decided to stay at the Paragon Casio Hotel. Any good restaurants there that we should check out in the area.

There is nothing in Marksville.

You can stop at the Y-Not-Stop and get you something or you can stop at the Boudin place in front of Casino.

For a homestyle meal, drive over to Lea's Lunchroom in LeCompte.
Plate lunches and ham sandwiches.

The food is decent, but they're best known for their huge slices of pie.

Broken Wheel is pretty good. I ran my dog in a hunt test up there last year and my wife and I hung out there one night. Food and beer were both pretty good, especially for Marksville. Not much else going on around there.

There was a good little hole in the wall mexican place we ate at one time there not too far from the casino. I think it was called Los Amigos.

If you want some pretty good boudin and cracklins (especially considering the area), there's a Juneau's Specialty Meats almost right across the street from the casino.

Every time I'm up in that area of the state I HAVE to hit Juneau's. Their boudin is excellent, as are the fried boudin balls, cracklin is stupid expensive for what it is but damn good too. They also have a pretty good hogshead cheese.

My wife's family is from that area but there's less and less of them as time passes by and they pass away.

Habibi's Lebanese restaurant is legit is you like the cuisine. The baked Knafeh dessert is some of the best I've ever had

My Dad lives in Marksville, so I go over regularly.
Thumbs up for Broken Wheel and Habibi's. FYI: for some strange reason, Broken Wheel is closed on Sundays.
The fried chicken place behind Pizza Hut is good too. It recently changed its name, can't remember what it is now. It's not the greatest place for dine in, but the chicken is legit.
Nanny's and Los Amigos, the Mexican place by the casino, aren't that great.

owned by a poster on TD. I've been there a dozen times since I do business in M-ville. I called it Big arse Chicken b/c of the giant sized chicken pcs. pretty sure it T-RAK's Big Chicken and they also process deer and make sausage for hunters

It's the exact same recipe as Royal Cajun Fried Chicken, so that's what we call it - but over the years, the place has bounced around and changed names.

Don’t forget about Harry’s famous/infamous Pronto Pups, kinda like a corn dog, but much less batter. I’ll have 2 w/mayo, 2 w/mustard. And “lay off the neon, junior” for old times sake…

Habibis

Kyrles (Mansura)
Los Amigos
Broken Wheel
Rockys (Bunkie)

Logan's has some good BBQ but I don't remember which days they're open. It's a little place behind Walgreens.

Harry's is a legendary Marksville establishment. Go get you a pronto, burger and milk shake.

This place in Bunkie has good food and I would recommend it before Lea's in Lecompte.

Griffin's

I have always found it odd that there is not many decent eating places in the Marksville area.

If you're willing to drive about an hour, highly recommend this ....

I personally find Lea's to be overrated. It was very good back when the old man was still alive, but it has been on a slow decline ever since his passing. The pies are pretty mediocre, to be honest.

The 2 places I recommend in Marksville are Juneau's - which has the best cracklins anythwere - and Harry's, for their pronto pups (similar to a corn dog, but better). Juneau's is also one of the only places you can get bouille (organs such as liver, heart, kidneys, tripe, spleen, etc). that can be used to make a delicious gravy over rice.

Pronto Pups:

I also highly recommend taking the short drive to Cottonport and picking up some smoked boudin (both regular and blood) and head cheese (best I've ever had) from T-Jims.
