Walked by there yesterday (4100 block) and it looks ready to open or close to it. Ultra-modern interior. Menu already posted on back wall. Looks interesting. There are like a dozen restaurants within three blocks.

Sweet. Love the vegan options. Prices look reasonable too. I will definitely be trying this place soon.

Went today for lunch. Again, attractive staff.. who were very pleasant and helpful. The space is bright and clean and the smell inside is fricking great. They cook on the line to the right of the cash register and looked to be doing some nice things. I opted for the BBQ pork rice dish with a side of shrimp spring rolls.
The pork meat itself was very tender and seasoned well. Not oversalted, chewy or lacking flavor.. but it did need a little extra punch. Which came from the sauce on the side (not pictured); my guess is that it was fish sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes. Made the entire dish pop.
The little cabbage/carrot mix on the side had a nice pickle brine flavor to it and was a nice palate cleanser.
Spring rolls were perfect. Vermicelli was done just right, veggies were super fresh, shrimp were cooked nicely.. but the star was the peanut sauce. Top 5 peanut sauces I've ever tasted for sure. Guaranteed that it's made in-house and they let it set up in the fridge for at least 3 days.
For the price, location, quickness, taste, quality of ingredients, service, atmosphere... you better believe I'll be back to try more dishes.

The owner of Pho Orchid was involved in helping the owner of Magasin get everything started. So I would expect similar results.

I usually eat Vietnamese every week, I think I will throw this place into rotation. Though I do like Frosty's, just mainly for the bubble tea.
Had Little Chinatown today, but wish I had seen this earlier as I'm about to head to the Garden district

I think I'm going to dine-in tomorrow and try something else.
Btw, the building went from this:
to this:
It'll be cool when they open the windows all the way and have outside dining as well.

Watched the transformation of the place. I am stoked. Five minute or so walk from my house. Going tonight. Magazine has blown up with options.

We went tonight toward the end of d'Etat.
Exactly. Nice design inside and the aroma was terrific.
Had the Pho w/ Rare Flank. This was the second 10 hour brew of the day. It was damned tasty. Rich with just the right amount of mint.
My wife (better known as the saintly woman who's put up with my crap for years) had the Lemongrass Chicken with rice. The chicken had a nice flavor and even the jasmine rice was distinctive.
Oh, we split a steamed pork bun. Damned good.
Agree. Everyone was very nice. Our server was young and inexperienced, but one of the other servers was monitoring her and we had no problems. Both were very, very cute. Not that matters . . . did I mention that my wife is very patient and understanding?
But, yep, I'm looking forward to when they start using the patio area in the back. Give this place a try.

And women wearing 20,000 fleur de lis' between jewelry and scarves. Make sure to mention how wonderful Chateau estates and Houston's on vets are.
