Looks like we’ll be passing thru Natchez around noon heading turkey hunting. Would like to have some lunch, possibly some raw oysters, and knock back a few beers. Haven’t dined much in Natchez. I have been to Roux 61 and while it’s fine I would rather something else. Any recs appreciated.

Unless something has changed, Roux 61 was the only place in Natchez serving raw oysters.

Grab a picnic table at Big Poppa's hot tamales. Get a half dozen tamales and a hamburger. Thank me later.

Do you mean Fat Mama's, or is this a competitor?

In the Donut Shop at the 4 way . 100% better product than Fat Momma's.

Would not get raw oysters in Natchez. Good lunch and local beers at Magnolia Grill or Camp Rest.

The Camp or Kings Tavern

ETA: Changed my answer to The Camp because that is what I was thinking but I originally had magnolia grill. Never been to Mag but we stop at the camp damn near every time we go thru natchez. Same bartender in there every time turned us on to the Charboneau distillery where we found Kings Tavern next door. They're owned by the same people and make for a nice stop to try some of their liquor and next door for food and cocktails.

Ended up at The Camp under the hill. Pretty good food and beer selection.

I’m going to be there a couple of nights soon. Haven’t been in many years.

What’s the best dinner place that I should make reservations for?

Do they have Uber or taxis there?

We’re at the Hotel Vue. Looks like less than a mile to Fat Mama’s Tamales. We can walk that unless it’s hood country.

Might need a ride to Dunlieth if drinking.

We spent the weekend there a couple months ago and had a blast. We stayed at the Guest House and were able to walk most places. Spent a lot of time at the brewery. Make sure to check out Smoot's--they'll usually have live music on the weekend and is right by the brewery.

The Camp is the best food/beer combo in town. It also has an awesome view of the river and is the best place to watch a game on tv.

Slick Rick’s is in the middle of the downtown shopping and also has great lunch food, but without the beer/TVs.

Don’t go to Roux 61. It’s just your stereotypical Southern chain seafood restaurant. Eat downtown and soak up all of the charm you can.

Dinner is all about what you’re looking for. There are multiple great options.

Quality food/river view? Magnolia Grill.

Quality food/good atmosphere? Rolling River Bistro or Cotton Alley

Quality (but small portioned) food/great atmosphere? King’s Tavern

Average food (but well portioned)/great atmosphere? Biscuits and Blues

Classy Italian? Pearl Street Pasta

The Carriage House has a fantastic Sunday brunch.

Steampunk and Natchez Coffee Company are great coffee options (though Steampunk will be closing soon, unfortunately).

You really can’t go wrong with any of the places I just mentioned. For a town as small as it is Natchez has a ton of great places to eat and drink.

Great place. Plus they are pet friendly, which is a huge plus for our 2 huskies!

Hopefully they don’t allow you and Bruce’s gerbils inside.

I tried but they wouldn’t budge. I guess you have to draw the line somewhere!

He was a bit “husky” but is down from a 44 waist to a 38! We’ve been on a great keto kick as of late.
