Need a new blender. Looking for a nice one to make smoothies, and to use for cooking. (dressings, sauces, etc.) What ya got?

I have a reconditioned VitaMix. It will blend cement. Zero problems with it, and the reconditioned bases ship with new blender containers.

Does Vitamix have a system like the Ninja system pictured above?

Vitamix has beaucoup attachments. I have the personal smoothie cups, which attach to an adapter base. I use them, but they're a bit fiddly. It's just as easy to use the main container and pour into a cup, to me.
VM has dry grain grinding containers, etc.
There are two different VM lines: the Classic (what I have) and the Ascent line. The Classic is widely available as a reconditioned unit, and the Ascent is more of a home use/fancy appliance that has a different line of attachments.

I'm on the vitamix train too. One of the things I never thought I would want to spend the money on, but once you have one you cant imagine not having it.

Another vote for Ninja. I love mine. Use it for margs all the time. And I think it's a fraction of the cost of the other popular ones.

Vitamix or ninja. I have a ninja, and it works great. Best blender I’ve owned.

Never would have bought it but I got one for father's day and I love it.
Even went to grab one for the office and walmarks was out. Had to get a "nutri blend" and its garbage compared to the ninja.

I bought the missus the vitamix setup, like the ninja above, a few years back and she loves it... cons were it was pretty pricey and it sounds like a 747 taking off in the kitchen (but its a blender)..

Will it blend?

I show these in my class from time to time. Great content!

I have a vitamix. They're awesome, but expensive. Not sure your price range.

Our Vitamix will make sawdust out of a 2 x 4.

Vitamix and blendtec are top of the line. I chose vitamix because I wanted to avoid blendtecs modern electronics (ie. more parts that could possibly fail, and don’t really improve the blending efficiency).
I went with the vitamix professional 750- I got it for $399 @ Best Buy in what I believe was a pricing error.

Hah. Those videos are what sold me on one. I also like the pitcher/container better than the vitamix

That and they aren't needlessly tall so you can store them easier. The Blendtec single large blade is more efficient too, Vitamix uses the exact same style in their commercial units which tells you all you need to know which is the better choice.
