At some point I want to make a trip to see some of the places in St James to appreciate what will probably become a lost art/culture.

Don't know, just like the story of that tobacco while smoking it.

Me too. I love the stories of families fleeing Cuba with their seeds after the communists seized their farms and basically proving the entire industry at the time wrong by pumping out hybrid blends in different countries that, if we’re being honest, are better than the overpriced Behike’s the cigar snobs love to tout. I need to snag a few cigars made with Louisiana tobacco. What do you recommend?

Anyone ever smoke a Drew Estate Factory Smoke Maduro? I’ve been really impressed. It’s considered a cheapo, but it doesn’t smoke like one. Great everyday stick.

Yes, agree.

The perique cigar might be in limited runs in the US

Might be best off my contacting the farm and see if they know anywhere in the states that sells cigars from their crops.

On a Rocky Patel Java maduro
Holy hell pure espresso shot
And while a great stick wasn’t expecting this much coffee flavor, lesson learned
This whole experience of pairing and different sticks is fricking awesome
This one would’ve been great with a beer stout

I've been burned by the flavored cigars as well No8Easy2. Won't touch them.

What's everyone got queued up for the 4th weekend? I checked my humidor but I've got nothing special in there, gonna have to head to my local shop to see what they've got.
Probably gonna be a rare 2 cigar Sunday. One for afternoon BBQ, One for evening fireworks.

I'll probably go with:

Padron 1926 Serie no.2 Belicoso Maduro
Montecristo no.2
Oliva V Melanio Figurado
EP Carrillo Pledge Sojourn

The Monte and Oliva will most likely be afternoon smokes with the others as evenings.

For the 4th, I'm probably gonna burn an AF 8-5-8 while I BBQ, then switch over to whiskey and an LFD Andulesan Bull for when the sun goes down.

Heads up: If anyone is looking for a CRA Freedom Sampler - Pipers Haven in Lafayette have 3 packs left @ $140 ea. They're over by the Arturo Fuente Wall.

CAO America to start followed by my last Diesel Hair of the Dog. That’s the plan anyway. I’ll be with a bunch of cigar guys shooting off fireworks so there will likely be some trading happening.

Best value out there is this cigar:

Currently enjoying one of the farm rolled sticks from privada.

It’s a perfecto size and was labeled the “boutique” stick from the months pack.

It’s amazing. I wish I knew what company this one was made from.

Are there any good Cigar shops around Mandeville or Covington that you can also grab a drink too.

None that I know of. Town Crier is your best bet to buy cigars, but the Northshore seems to be missing out on this overall.

We need to open up a cigar bar out here

Fellas
On a CLE corojo paired up with some OC rye, could be finding my wheelhouse with these, some red pepper and cedar notes, almost a sweet honey somewhere
Don’t really know how to describe it properly but it’s fricking good
