You keep puffing Perdomo and you can’t go wrong. Easily one of my favorites. I’ve got a box coming tomorrow from them. Are you new to cigars?

Spent most of the weekend trying out the farm rolls I received from Privada earlier this week. All were solid Nicaraguan sticks, besides the one “limited edition” stick that I didn’t care for.

Got home, and lit up a Prometheus Angelenos.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed from the two posts above mine, this thread moves fast, but it’s because everyone here loves cigars and is knowledgeable in their own way. Most of us can’t wait to share what we’re smoking.

In response to your post, if those guys are setting you up with Perdomo, I would definitely trust their judgment. Perdomo is without a doubt a premium brand, but I wouldn’t consider it “mainstream”. An aficionado brand for sure. A few I’d recommend you give a try are CAO, My Father, Plascencia, Arturo Fuente, La Aroma de Cuba, Padron, and Drew Estate.

Don’t feel like you have to have the latest cigar creating buzz either. There’s so much quality out there I’d recommend trying some classics like Punch Classico and Romeo y Julieta 1875. There’s a reason these are still some of the best cigars selling after all of these years post release.

I'm like No8 in that I am learning about all of this. Of the ones you list here I really enjoyed the CAO Gold and Padron 1964. I tried a My Father, but it didn't stand out to me for whatever reason. I have not tried any of the others yet.

Right now my favorites and the ones I keep reordering are Padron 1964, Oliva V Maduro, Romeo Y Juliet Reserva Real Cabinet Selection, and Juarez Jack Brown by Crown Heads. I love each of these.

So much truth to this statement. Don’t smoke an OpusX because it’s an “OpusX”. Or a Cohiba because it’s a “Cohiba”, etc etc.

Some of the best cigars I’ve smoked are no-named local house sticks.

appreciate the recommendations will definitely be giving them a try here soon also picked up a small 5 cigar travel humidor for Father’s Day but for the medium/larger home sizes any tips on what to look for (brand, digita, etc) or stay away from?

While I can't give you tips on specific humidor brands, etc. I will tell you that whatever you decide upon will require a few weeks of seasoning prior to you putting cigars in it. To get you through to that stage, make a Tupidor to store your cigars.

How to make a DIY Tupador

My second tip is this, since you're new, look for deals on sampler packs online or at your local shop. Also, if you do buy cigars online, let them sit for at least two weeks in your tupidor/humidor before smoking. It makes a tremendous difference when you smoke a well conditioned cigar.

Personally if I was looking for something nice to display or storing expensive cigars a while I would go find something that has Spanish cedar hardwood and a dovetail edge. If you just want a simple storage the tupperdore works and even boveda makes a one year humidor bag.

That’s my 2 cents and I am sure some will disagree.

Thanks for the info and tips fellas I’ll look those up tonight
And when I was in the smoke shop this weekend I noticed that some of those cigars seem ridiculously priced of upwards of $20+ a stick wasn’t sure any of those would be worth the coin but obviously still learning but if it’s anything like bourbon I’ve learned the hard way that it doesn’t have to be expensive to be good

Anyone get really weak stomach in the middle of the night after smoking a new brand cigar that the body isn’t used to?

Second time this has happened to me. Smoked a Punch Cuban around 3:30pm. Was up at midnight ready to hurl. Kept it down fortunately.

Second time this has happened. Never happens on some of my regulars. Has happened on a nicotine light la aurora CT before as well. Had a good bit of sugar post cigar as well.

Maybe I’m just a baby....

This is one of the things I love about cigars. Everyone will experience a cigar in a different way. It’s all about finding what you like.

Very good cigar. I really enjoy that one too and they’re not that expensive.
