I'll be the odd man out as far as the ice goes. I chew ice all day long. Sonic ice, race trac ice and circle K are my favorites. That being said, I usually do crushed ice out of my refrigerator for my bourbon drinks. Yes, it does get a little watered down by the end, but I like chewing the bourbon flavored ice the whole drink through.

I usually keep 6-8 different bottles open, but the buffalo trace stuff goes the quickest. A store pick of buffalo trace is awesome. Cheap, so you don't feel bad about drinking it up, and really really good flavor. I keep an Elijah Craig around for when I feel woody, and a four roses barrel proof and a stagg jr for when I really want to tie one on.

That's what I do. I usually only enter when I'm looking for a rec and most times I'll get helped right away. Four Roses Single is probably my favorite.

Funny story- a long-time friend visited about a month ago and he knows I'm a bourbon guy (really just class me a "whiskey drinker"). So he shows up with a bottle of Pendleton, which is a blended Canadian. I'd never heard of it or tested it but it was his favorite so that was his gift to me when he arrived.

Thanked him and we cracked it. I get two glasses and pour a couple fingers worth, drop us a piece of ice and he says man I don't drink that stuff straight. Put me a little 7Up in there. Lol. So I did for his but I had it neat.

We finish that one then I suggest he try my favorite..FRsingle. I grab two more glasses and pour us two neat and insist he at least try it. He does and says HOLY shite dude. This stuff is incredible. How do you find whiskeys like this? So I tell him about the W/B/S thread (even though my 4R love didn't start there) and he lurks it now.

All of it. Have been entertaining clients, and the company has been funding this habit. But yes, mainly single barrel.

I definitely would have cleared that shelf.

weird... I wonder why FBD is cool, but FPD isn't. If true and can an admin explain...just curious

I overserved myself last night. It was a FPD then a NPD. Turns into 3 and 4PD. Old Forester and splash of ginger ale with some of my bourbon soaked Cherries. ‘Twas a good time.

I’ll go back tonight and see if they have any left... they were in the grocery carts by the liquor aisle. I’ll save them for cold fronts and football

Was given a bottle of Woodford Double Oak. It is really good.

I bought a bottle of double double oaked at the distillery back in March. Delicious stuff.

Someone bought me Lusty Claw as a gift because they thought the bottle was cool. I haven't opened it yet, but the reviews online are.....less than favorable

I’m the same way. I will drink it neat but most of the time I put a little ice in to chill it. Mostly because it is hot here. Winter time I’ll grab a glass and pour a few ounces and sip as I watch football. Recently I moved to a different floor at work and this new floor has the nugget ice machine. A gigantic Scotsman on our counter. I bring my wife a cup of it a few days a week. It is perfect for mint juleps in the summer as well. I brought two cups home last night and used one for my first two drinks. Crunching on that bourbon ice is great. But like I said earlier I was mixing with a dash of ginger ale.

Hadn't seen much Eagle Rare lately either. My other go-to.

Super One, a low end grocery store, has a separate liquor store at the Shreveport-Barksdale Hwy location. They usually have it cheap as you’ll ever see it.

Many other good bargains in there for the Shreveport area folks.

We laugh at you in this thread for the same thing. With that being said, if it makes you happy and keeps the demand down for more desired bourbon, then it works for me...

So many great value bourbons at the $30 price point that rival bourbons in the $40-60 range. This is my current favorite under $30. I actually found it on sale for $5 off at Martin's in Metairie for just under $25. Highly recommend.

Can a bourbon guy explain why that McKenna isn't more sought after? It checks all the boxes: 10 year age statement, bottled in bond, single barrel, 100 proof.

I bought some and thought it was decent. Why is the price so low and why is it so available?
