Avoid this place. Disgusting food. Pies are marginal. They have three choices for lunch and the choices this day were chicken fried steak, cube steak, and ham. The CFS was inedible- overfried with zero actual "steak" in it. My son got the cube steak and we couldn't recognize the type of meat it was and tasted awful. The sides were rice and gravy that had no salt or much flavor, blackeyed peas that were edible, and corn that nobody can F up. I don't know how this place has the reputation because I've had better pie at freaking Picadilly. Oh and five plate lunches and four slices of pie plus tip was $100. Yes I'm mad.

It was good when the old man was running it.

People tend to hate on it here, but I still think the pies are great.

Plate lunch is $10.25
Whole pie is $18

51+18=$69

$31 tip?

Worth the nostalgia, but better food is out there. A place to check off your backroads Louisiana restaurants.

I'm with you. $20/person for lunch with sides, dessert, a drink and tip. Doesn't seem that far off.

I ate there for lunch Saturday with my dad. I got the ham sandwich and pecan pie.

My dad got the CFS and bumbleberry pie. The CFS was like 1/16th of an inch thick and tough as leather. The bumbleberry pie's crust was almost raw.

The ham sandwich and pecan pie were great though.

If you don't stray from that it's pretty good. Everything else is kinda gross. Oh and they had small cans of Steen's cane syrup they were selling for $5.25. lol

It was $80.00 but I felt bad for the waitress who seemed beaten down by life, so I gave her a $20 tip. She wasn't responsible for the garbage food.

You were supposed get ham sandwiches, you fricked up. They do/did a combination of sliced and chipped ham, dressed sparaingly and pressed. Never gotten anything else.

I believe they're going to prepackaged ingredients and frozen crusts. The last time we stopped at Lea's I had a lemon meringue pie. The pie crust was soggy, the custard was flavorless and the meringue had the texture of dish soap.
Incomprehensibly bad, given how good they once were.

That's disappointing. I have fond memories of the place from my childhood. We had relatives up near Tioga and my pops would schedule a stop at Lea's to pick up a pie to bring to my Aunt. We would stop in, grab some (then) good country food and a whole pie to go.

Sounds like you need to bring a brown bag lunch next time you head north.

Ham sandwich and pie. My favorites are the pecan and the blueberry when in season.

If I'm passing around there during mealtime, I'm getting a ham sandwich. Had one before Easter. Still the same with the slices and the chipped ham. Same exact taste as I remember from my youth on trips with the family. Sometimes, pick up an extra to bring home for the next day.

I like the pie warmed.

I've never been a fan of the place.

My wife can make me a ham sandwich at home, and my Granny's pies run circles around Lea's.

Only thing I like there is the ham sandwich. The pies are mediocre at best.

In the 70's and 80's that place was rockin. You simply did not pass that place up and not get several pies for the family.

Today, it's like ya'll said, you can get better frozen pies.

I don't know if they've changed, or pie technology has just passed them by, but they're just not that good anymore.

Always stopped there on the way to LSU games, and those little Cokes were so good.
