Looking to host a rehearsal dinner for about 80-100 guests. So far Calcasieu is in the lead with Commanders (88 guest max) running in second. Galatoires has a $15K minimum before tax and tip. Anyone have any experience with dining at Calcasieu? Any other venues/restaurants you all can think of without having to hit Galatoires prices?

I did calcasieu and loved it. They catered the menu to our liking and we did it family style

Family style was great because everyone got to try the short rib, the duck, and the fish. It was all delicious. They did a boudin bar for me for our cocktail hour and we had a custom dessert which was a warm gooey brownie with sea salt and vanilla ice cream.

I can not recommend this venue enough. Everyone loved it.

Rosy's Jazz Hall worked well for us for around that size.

Had our rehearsal at Calcasieu, can’t recommend it enough.

Ran the gamut there...bunch of pass arounds, seafood and cochon de lait stations, charcuterie/cheese, buffet style gumbo and a few sides, then passed desserts.

Possibly Muriels? I'm not sure exactly how many they can seat upstairs

Commander's is great. Also, you can rent the venue above the casino building in City Park, pretty cool venue with a balcony etc.

Ralph's on the Park second floor. Whole second floor seats like 125 or something.

Lakefront Airport terminal. Messina's does a good job with the food and the price is right.

Deutsches Haus would be another option, you handle your own food.

Court of two sisters

You get the whole French Quarter vibe that you would get at one of the party rooms at Arnouds, galatroires ect. But at a fraction of the price.

We had our wedding welcoming party here for about 80 people with an open bar and buffet style dinner and a Jazz band for under $10k.

Also, look into the upstairs at Napoleon House

Forgot about this. The old walnut room is an awesome venue.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Good to hear a couple of you have had a great experience with Calcasieau.

Mid City and the Lakefront are probably a little further away from the rest of the wedding action than id like to be. Unfortunately its gonna be a challenge to get below the Commanders max of 88 with a big wedding party and both of us having big families.

Might look at Paradigm Gardens and Pat Os on the River but still leaning Calcasieu.

We had a 100+ at Bourbon House and it came out to right at 10k.

Had a cocktail hour to start with full open bar

No complaints at all. Easy location for our guests as we were staying in the Quarter

ETA: Just checked final list/receipt. 79 (doesnt look like they counted kids) people total and final bill with tip was 10,200

this was in 2013
