Mazen's is very good as is the Harlequin. Great steaks.

Aside from that..... um..... The italian sausage po boy at Tony's isn't bad, just ask them to toast the bread otherwise it turns into dough.

There's a pizza place in the mall that isn't bad but you have to go in to get it, but the pizza is really good. (A bit pricey though)

Steamboat Bill's is decent but overpriced for what you get IMO. Try Seafood Palace or even Heinen's Boil and Go for crawfish on Country Club.

Maybe try Chastain's on Ryan? Been a while since I've been there but I remember it being pretty good.

ETA: Luna's on Ryan downtown. Their Luna Tuna is so good.

I had a burger there about a month ago that really impressed me. I've been meaning to go back

Good advice. Honey-B-Ham on Prien Lake also has excellent crawfish. They're under new management this season, but the crawfish are still very good.

I agree about their poboy bread I do like their pizza and Greek salad. The reuben is a hidden gem there

Being from Baton Rouge, the food scene here is sub par for sure.

That being said, there are a few decent places:
Luna
Mazen's
Pat's of Henderson is better than you think
So is Steamboat Bills

Darrell's is THE most overrated "poboy" I have ever had. I mean how do you call that thing a poboy when it's not even served on french bread?

Cousins- I've never had anything subpar there. Try the bacon wrapped dates.

The Brown Bag Cafe-A short drive to Moss Bluff. Worth it.

MacFarlane's Celtic Pub-They have a great hamburger. Everything else is pretty authentic and good.

KD's-If you're out late go here for breakfast food and get the Southern Chicken on Hash.

Chart House-I think its called the Country Club now. Pricey but good. The wife and I went a few weeks back and just ordered appetizers and drinks. Didn't have anything we didn't like.

Others: The Villa, Lunas, 1910, Crying Eagle (mostly just for pizza/beer), or Tony's Pizza .

They used to be much better. That place seems to be a shell of what it used to be. I still enjoy it though.

First, how much do you want to spend?

If price is no option, get out of the casino and go to:

Mazen's - #1 choice for seafood (fresh fish) and great crab meat topped entrees. Get the crab crepes for appetizer, fresh fish and don't forget the Grand Marnier souffle for dessert.
La Truffe Sauvage - outstanding French food
1910 - great choice with unique food choices
Calla - unique cocktails and food
Harlequin - great local steaks, reasonably priced.

If price is an option, skip the above and go to Luna's.

In Scott? How could you be that close to Billy's and go to Best Stop?

Billy’s is usually at least 3x the wait in my experience.

La Truffe is the truth.

Duck confit is a must.

And, they have an impressive wine cellar that's not on the list.

Sonnier’s makes a good smoked boudin. Just don’t get stabbed and don’t you dare be talking on your phone and trying to order.

To name a few other options

Mama Reta's for lunch
Chart house at the GN golf course for atmosphere, decent food, and nice bar
The Tortas at Que Pasa or Casa
Victoria's tacos for lunch
Rabideaux's in Iowa for catfish poboy
Seafood Palace- Best boiled crabs in the world, and solid gumbo
Henin's Boil N Go Crawfish- extremely well done crawfish

As mentioned Villa is great. Calla's burger at lunch is delicious, but they are proud and stingy with their dinner items.

I went there a couple months back and ordered the fried chicken. It was absolutely the best fried chicken I've ever had. Huge portion with great potato salad.

I’ll be over there again for a few days next week. I just wanted to see if there have been any updates to this thread. New restaurants that I should try, restaurants closing, restaurants getting better or worse, etc. Where do you guys recommend I go to get a decent meal? Will be at the Nugget so something close to the casino would be a plus.

I grew up in Lake Charles and still have a house in Big Lake, so I do know the food scene.
