They should have bought fratelli's and flatten it. Use that space as a line for drive thru. Kinda like a disney ride line.

I heard they looked into that but the Fratelli property wanted too much for it.

Good move for them. Something needs to happen on that stretch of Amb Caffery, because looking like a graveyard of closed restaurants.

They might as well fill that stretch with more chain joints or gimmick places like Sushi Masa because that's all that'll survive there. Concede that ground to the Vermillion parish baws looking to come to town to crush some Mich Ultras and all you can eat sushi with the ole lady.

Seriously though nothing "local" seems to ever really be able to survive there outside of the Mexican restaurants.

How the hell did Macaroni Grill not make it (Baton Rouge location also)? Food and service were good, and it was always packed when we went.

Then there was place nearby that brewed its own beer.

It was a chain brewpub place Hops, I finally remembered the name a couple weeks ago after talking about it with friends a couple months ago. Looks like the last one in the US closed around 2016. I remember going once or twice as a kid, it was in the building that is now El Paso.

Louisiana loves it some chains.

I really think that's everywhere, people see chains and know what they're getting and are afraid to step out and try the local place, chains are a safe selection.

Shameless admission: wife and I were on that side of town a few months ago to pick something up and decided to stop at Texas Roadhouse because we wanted to crush some of those rolls. At 5pm on a Tuesday Texas Roadhouse had a 45 minute wait for a table. We left and went to Tampicos and on the way home Texas Roadhouse had even more people in the parking lot and people lined up outside waiting. It blows my mind but this seems to be the case no matter what city you're in.

What a waste. I understand that Chick Fil A is going to standardized set of building plans to fit their needs but that Red Robin was built in what...2016?

I don’t understand the fascination with Cick Fil A. I agree that the service is great but the food is just ok.

It’s fast food served hot with a smile. Canes has a huge following and neither their service or chicken is as good as Chick Fil A.
