How long can you store something in the freezer when it is vac sealed?

I've gone 18 months with roasts. But I usually eat everything in the freezer within that time frame. Some stuff may last longer.

Control Freak induction plate from Breville. Exact temp control is pretty cool. You’ll learn a lot about how food transforms under exact temps.

I guess you better learn a lot for $1,500.

An olive oil spray bottle small enough to take outside for grilling

Vacuum sealer

Sous vide device

Thermapen

Induction cooktop

A can opener that cleanly removes the lid without dipping the cut portion into the contents of the can.

A memory foam style mat to stand on while cooking.

This juicer:

Electric outlets mounted on the underside of upper cabinets near the under lighting. It makes the backsplash more pleasing on the eyes.

A retractable spice rack built into cabinets near the prep area.

A wife who stays out of the kitchen while I cook.

After years of suffering through the Seal a Meal version, I finally sprung for a JVR, what a game changer. Thanks to NOLAGT for the recommendation. I seal up bags of red beans, gumbo, venison stew and such when I make it (no extra effort to make a bigger pot) and just drop the pouch in a pot of boiling water, dinner ready in 20 minutes.

Runner up is the 10 function countertop oven/air fryer my boys got me a few years ago. Only time the big oven gets used is if I’m doing a couple of pounds of bacon.

That wasn’t a statement regarding my monetary level and certainly wasn’t an insult to you. Sorry the humor didn’t come through for you.

A hand crank cheese grater

Just stopping in to say THANK YOU for posting this. I used to buy pre grated cheese, even though it is inferior, just so I didn’t have to use my grater. I bought this on your suggestion and it’s awesome.

Can’t live without them.

We have a short one in front of the stove, and a long one that’s in front of the sink and prep area.

I take them for granted until the day the maid comes. They are heavy, so I roll them up and put them away so she can clean the kitchen floors without wrestling with them.

If I start working in the kitchen afterward, it takes about 2 minutes before my back and feet remind me that I have to get the mats out.

sounds great in theory, but those things would be very loud in a residential setting.

I would usually say something too but walking on hard restaurant floors for 31 years is starting to rear it's ugly head at me. If you're in the kitchen that much help your back out or go do some yoga

I’ve thought about the oil sprayer but I measure everything I eat and count macros

I usually do a tablespoon or two on my veggies. How does it measure out?

no more canning and no more packing the freezer, i can store fresh food indefinitely with no loss of quality. every time we have surplus fruit or veg i run it thru the freeze drier and stick it in a bag or mason jar.

you care to recommend one of these?
I always have too many vegetables and after eating some dried okra i found at rouses that is what i would like to do with all the extra okra i have.

incredibly okra is the best thing I’ve eaten out of the freeze drier it’s amazing

we have a harvest right medium machine. It fits on the countertop and runs off a standard 110v/20A outlet. They go on sale on the website occasionally (probably Black Friday coming up soon), ship quickly and come with a bunch of accessories you’ll use.

ours is in the utility/laundry room. When the pump is running it’s about as loud as a window unit. Put it next to a sink and you can just drop the drain hose in there and leave it.

highest recommendation. We run ours 2-3 times a week. Vegetables and herbs are the easiest and most useful end product. If you have dogs, freeze dried hearts and livers are great for treats

I would probably be dead before i recoup my investment in that.
Thanks for the recommendation, but i'm not spending that much on that.
