I like sticking to the rules for King cake consumption, somehow things that have a 'season' are better because of the limited time to enjoy.

So us purists don't get ripped off, I know last year Thee Heavenly Donut's "King cake" was a King donut, are there any other frauds you know about? A real King cake is baked, not fried.

I have a friend that ships one up every year through Haydel's and it always shows up in great condition.

I had an Ambrosia Zulu style King Cake the other day and it was legit.

Chocolate icing with coconut shavings on top and cream in the middle.

Recommend it to anyone looking for something a little different.

I saw pics of that one and it looks delicious though I could eat it without so many bananas. Doesn't look at all like a king cake, but it sure looks delicious.

I've sent Haydel's cakes a lot. I send some of the Cajun Kringles to out of state clients at Christmas and they enjoy them. I'm going to try one from Meche's in Lafayette this year to see how it is.
