Can't get a day without the kids this week. Wanted to take advantage of restaurant week.
Can get Galatoire's or August for $20/ 3-course this weekend. Or can do the Jazz Brunch at Commander's

I have seen kid's at commanders, and know I went there before I was ten. But never brunch.

Plus the oldest just made her competition dance team (whatever that means) and I promised her a fancy meal.

Already have 11:30 resi's at Commander's, but was thinking Antoine's or Galatoire's as I have never been.

I know some places don't allow kids younger than 10. The girls are five and seven.

I would say no to Galatoire's.

You can bring kids to lunch/brunch at all those places, no problem. I wouldn't do Antoines, though, unless you think you and the kiddies woulld like the feeling of eating in a mourge. Look at Arnaud's instead, in addition to Commanders and Galatoire's.

I'd say yes too all. I went as a kid as did my kids. We all knew how to behave so there was never a problem. Mine have been to some great restaurants since infant and have developed a pretty decent palette

I just wanted to try Antoine's but after going over the menu I have ruled that out. I made the reservation at Commander's before seeing that I couldn't do the special menu that day.
But I do like their brunch and have seen kids there.

May just do lunch at Galatoire's another weekend. Jus the $20 menu sounded nice.
(I see Antoine's always has a $20 lunch special)

I'm going to look at Arnaud's, though I have been there before. That's where I had duck for the first time. (and rabbit too I think)

They are very well behaved, but have horrible palettes. Just was thinking a nice dress up meal would be good.
Though the oldest was at Katie's in Mid-City, she recognized the cook as a cook at her school and he came over. She told him, "The food was really good, almost as good as my favorite; Olive Garden"

Decided to keep Brunch at CP.

I think that is a great experience, and I know they work with picky kids.

Any of them will work with picky kids. Bring them and enjoy it. I'd rather eat with mine than with most other family or friends.

Got Antoine's Saturday, Commander's Sunday.

Will just do both. If Antoine's sucks at least I have Commander's the next day.

I feel better about bringing them after they saw the menu and picked some things they would eat.

I've seen plenty of kids at Commander's brunch. They'll enjoy the jazz trio and balloons.

Galatoire's doesn't have a jazz brunch. For kids, I prefer Arnaud's jazz brunch, but my brunch at Commander's in April was excellent and it should be fine.

ETA: I would expect they would work with you on the picky palettes, but the menu wasn't too picky person friendly. The menu changes frequently.

Do they have to get the $40 three course ( I kind of remember all brunch items being three course) Or do they do a la carte? They don't eat much.

It was a 3 course when I was there with some extras and sides. We got a few extras we wanted to taste.

Give them a call and ask about picky light eating kids. This isn't a new issue for this restaurant. There could have been a kids menu, but I just don't recall. Brunch is a family after church deal for a lot of people, so they should have backups for kids.

Well there's only one restaurant on that list whose food is worth a shite so I'd go with that one.

I didn't see a brunch menu for restaurant week. I assume its the regular price for a 3 course meal.

That, sir, is a gross overstatement. All three have their merits.

I know CP is the best of the list. But I have been there so many times. I just wanted something new.

Yeah just doing Brunch at Commander's. It's worth it. I usually get one of the addons too.

they usually have good choices of stuff to add.

I talked to someone I used to work with years ago who is a foodie now. He told me "If shitty-arse Copeland's would let people order off menu crazy items, rest assured actual places with Chef's will too. It's common, especially with higher end places and picky people."

Like I said, I have seen Commander's Palace version of a Cane's Combo before, so i know they do it.

Antoine's also has one of the better lunch menu options. Of all the places available on Saturday.

Galatoires and Antoine's live off of their reputations of being old established New Orleans restaurants.. that's the extent of what they have to offer the city's culinary scene. If some people find that charming or worth their money good for them, but they've been surpassed as far as quality dishes go. At least Commander's puts out exceptional food still.

CP is fine. Galatoire's is great for what it is and aspires to be. I'm not an Antoine's fan, but it's silly for R2R to say any of them are not "worth a shite".

Any place worth its salt should let you order off menu, imo.

I love Galatoire's. I love old New Orleans dishes and old New Orleans restaurant atmosphere. Everything I eat there is excellent. I don't care to eat an eclectic aspiring ovely described meal every time I dine out. I like my old favorites, as well. Always slip one or two in on restaurant trips. It's always fun and delicious. Wish I had some Galatoire's oysters rock oysters Arnaud right now. A good soft shell crab wouldn't be bad either.
