Ki Mexico in Shreveport is the best restaurant in North Louisiana. I guess they got bored cooking awesome tacos and other Mexican dishes so they started cooking high end burgers on Wednesdays.

Last night I had this gem:

quote:

HAMBURGUESA QATAR: 8oz wagyu beef patty from @wagyufarmsllc with a roasted beet and basil salad, goat cheese and spicy curry mayonnaise inside a local made bun; served with an herbed potato salad !

Other burger nights:

quote:

HAMBURGUESA BLACK SOUL:
8oz wagyu beef patty from @wagyufarmsllc , spinach, Gouda and Jarlsberg cheese, portobello mushrooms and a black garlic and herbs spicy chimichurri!

quote:

Hamburguesa Hawaii: 8 oz Wagyu beef patty, pickled red cabbage, home made gochujang teriyaki sauce, roasted jalapen~os, cilantro and a touch of Mexican mayo

quote:

HAMBURGUESA CHILANGA:
8oz @wagyufarmsllc wagyu@beef patty, melted cheese mixed with chorizo, grilled pineapple, home made pickled jalapeños and a touch of Mayo!

quote:

Hamburguesa Las peras.- 8 oz @wagyufarmsllc Wagyu beef patty, melted Gouda cheese, crispy bacon, red Anjou pear, arugula, and a manzano pepper aioli.

Ate there once a couple years back, after spending the day at Great Raft. I don't remember a ton about the experience, but I do remember it was good.

My preference is Ramen Tuesdays

I'm patiently waiting for Rodrigo to open his ramen shop

I've only made that once and it was delicious as well. I'm an hour away from Shreveport so it's not the easiest to get up there on a weekday but last night was worth the trip.

I only live a few blocks away, so Ki is a weekly thing for us.

There are very few things I would miss about Shreveport if I ever left, and Ki is at that top of that list.

i dont believe that one bit even though i have never been there.

But this thread does make me miss the good texmex of shreveport and east texas. South LA has extremely mediocre texmex.

So you really have no idea.

Obviously it's just my opinion that they're the best restaurant in North LA but I have yet to find anyone in the area pumping out creative dishes like they are.

Ki Mexico is about as far removed from Tex Mex as you can possibly get.

Last time I was there, I got the Tortuga de Pollo with a fried egg on it- That was a damn fine sandwich! Their tacos are easily the best I've ever had, and the ramen is top notch. They are definitely a Shreveport/NWLA gem.

Well 2 of those three are vastly different from the other. Superior isn't all world but it's damn fine tex mex. There are probably 15 other amazing tex mex places you clearly know nothing about. You seem like a snob, so I won't tell you either

I refuse to go to Pepitos due to what happened to Ono’s.

Also because no reason to go there when Ki is next door.

What happened to Ono's? I liked it okay, but they seemed to have light biz near the end. I was disappointed but not surprised when they closed.

Owner of Shane’s financed the restaurant, forced the Ono’s guys to make all kinds of changes to their aesthetic and menu, and then eventually forced them out of the space because he thought a Mexican restaurant would be more successful.

Obviously he was the money man and can do what he wants, but he treated the Ono’s guys like utter shite.
