Hmmmm.
Along with Billy's smoked it's right at the top of mine. Who are your 4-5 above Kartchners?

The poster that said it tastes like rice and gravy placed in casing is correct. The Best Stop, NuNu's, Billy's and Don's are all better than Kartchner's regular boudin. If you like it great, but it's last on the list in Scott for most people. Take a look at the parking lots, that will give you a little hint.

Something must be going right. They're opening their third store with #2 and 3 opening pretty close in time.
Maybe it's their other products.

Their other stuff is really good, best boudin ball, great meats, and specialty items. The regular boudin is just not good IMO, as well as many others on here. I posted a few weeks ago that we did the Scott Boudin Trail with the family (20 people) and everyone had their boudin last. Some here didn't like it and said my story was "made up", and that's fine if they want to believe it. Bourque's a stone throw away on Johnston has better boudin too, as well as their plate lunches and cooked to order food. I am not against Kartchner's and hope they do well. I just wouldn't buy boudin from there (the jalapeno cream cheese boudin ball not withstanding).

Jalapeño cream cheese boudin balls are insane.

I agree that their boudin is unremarkable by Scott standards. However, pretty much everything else they make is top shelf.

Have had Kartchners' smoked boudin multiple times so we are obviously talking about two different species. Doesn't come close to describing what I've known.
OTOH, hope to try Bourques next time in town. Same people as in Port Barre?

Did you mean Billeaud's? They have my favorite boudin.
