A few. Ruffino's, George's, Mama Della's, and Mike Anderson's.

la caretta is pretty pricey, though.
la casa on the east side > any messican food in Houma

LA Carretta blows donkey balls.

LA Casa is a joke as well. Best messican in houma is Satillo's son.

Stroubes - downtown Baton Rouge.

Anyplace that serves you a steak and then leaves you sitting without a fork or knife gets the axe from me. Best part was the waiter never came back so I told another server and, rather than getting me utensils, they "went to look" for my guy. I ended up going in the kitchen and getting a knife and fork. This was my third unsuccessful try at the place.

La Carreta is bad. I recall when the original one opened in Hammond circa 2001. Man, was it good. I still like that location, but the Baton Rouge, Amite and Covington locations are bad.

I agree with the first 2.

Never been to Satillos, that's the one on GC Road in the old McDonalds?

My favorite us the one acriss from Canattas on the East Side. It's more of a taco stand than a restaurant.

They used to be in the old pizza hut on grand caillou, they recently moved into the old Chinese buffet up the street (the one from jimmy Kimmel a few years back).

Georges... Don't care for the food

I won't go back because when I went about a year or so ago now, I asked if the guy knew if the veggie burger was vegan. He said "I don't know what means". I told him, no problem...do you have the box, would you mind checking?
To which he said "that's stupid, I'm not going to do that"

My party of 4 walked out after he said that, and I haven't been back.

Francois' Cafe and Grill in Zachary.

Mediocre food on his best day. The owner is a pompous jackass.

How do you know this? You either went back and asked or she is in your personal network of friends.

Which is it?

Ya Mama's in New Orleans. The bartender is also the waitress. She chain smoked behind the bar. All of the employees from the kitchen go into the bar area to smoke. The place wreaked of cigarette smoke.

Hate to admit this one, but Johnny's Po-Boys. The weekend before Mardi Gras I had an oyster poboy and got sick as a dog. Violently sick. Never had a problem there before, but I don't think I'll be able to go in again. Sucks

Lafayette area:

BJ's in Broussard - Declining food quality, cash only business. Was served rancid mayo on shrimp poboy once, another time there were hard fried doughballs in the poboy. Cash only makes it easier to pass up.

Golden Panda - Ate there twice, got food poisioning twice.

Fat Pat's - They started turning their burger pattys into hockey pucks, refuse to offer doneness options for burgers other than "well done". Had chicken wings that were basically served uncooked.

Zeus's - Food quality has deteriorated into dog food. Men behind counter harass customers. Especially women.

Coyote Blues - Service sucks. It's like they let high school employees hire their friends. There's always a gaggle at the front register just talking. Have been served cold food. Don't get me started on the pitiful tortillas. It's disappointing because the fajitas and margaritas are pretty good.

Urbano's Taqueria - Way too expensive. 3 very small tacos, a bag of chips, and a drink should not cost $18. I mean, the food is good, just too pricy for what you're getting.

T-Coon's - The food is bad. It's insane the amount of salt and butter that is in everything. Everything tastes the same. Also, the guy runs his restaurant like a frat house. He's always holding court at the big table for breakfast and lunch with his buddies. You get the vibe that you're funding his entertainment.

Romacelli - food is bland and expensive. Place feels like a mafia front. Bad service.

Acme Burger - Way overpriced, very slow service.

Golden Corral - *I have never eaten here - I once overheard a homeless guy saying how he just left the Golden Corral buffet and it was the worst food he's ever had. A good samaritan had taken him there to put some food in his belly. I mean, if a hungry homeless guy was hating...

Wow.

George's and Pastime are two I'll never return to because of the way they treat people over the stupid writing your own order bullshite. The guy at George's practically threw the pad of paper at me when I tried to order. I had no idea this was a "thing" they did (by the way, really fricking stupid trademark to have) and there wasn't a single person in the place. There was no reason he couldn't take my order the normal way.

What's funny is I remember a time our POS went down when I was working at Dempseys and we had to turn orders into the kitchen by hand. They flipped their shite at us servers for the way we wrote orders because they couldn't figure out most of them (abbreviations, handwriting, etc.). I can't imagine ever deciding that it is a good business decision to make customers write down their own orders.

Cordon Rouge downtown - and they haven't even opened yet.

If you announce (in February 2014), that you should be open by March 2014 - and the calendar rolls over to 2016 and you still can't get the place open, I don't trust your ability to run a restaurant (especially the back of the house where cleanliness and discipline matter).

Should open by March, 2014! (Article dated February, 2014)

Are they.. trying? I assume in instances like this that the restaurant is no longer coming.

I think so? They threw some tables on the sidewalk for Spanish Town this year with a "limited menu available" sign. And I found a Sept 2015 article (advertising an Oct 2015 opening).

What I don't understand is supposedly being a few weeks away from opening a business....then running into months/years worth of delays if you're really pushing it. What is that new piece of information that's leading to the last minute really-really extended delay? Leasing a business property that is returning NOTHING has to be a huge waste of money.
