From the Acadiana Subreddit

quote:

At least 4 people at Rouses on Bertrand are down with Covid and at least 2 on Jonston. They are trying VERY hard to keep it under wraps, even going so far as to not alerting the very people that work in close proximity to the ones who are now sick that they may have come in contact. Be careful if you shop there.

Aren't they required to report the sick employees? Don't they have to shut down and do a deep cleaning?

Sounds like you want them to violate HIPAA laws.

I don't know how you came to that conclusion. Was that sarcasm or something?

I thought that with all this contact tracing that's going on, that businesses were required to report covid cases.

If every business tested employees and closed for a positive case, every business would be shut down.

So if one cashier gets Covid, they shut down and deep clean an entire supermarket? What about WalMart? We would never be able to buy anything if that is the standard.

Not certain on this but:
Pretty sure you don't need to report that you have positives to anyone.

You are obligated to tell coworkers who have been in close contact that they have been exposed to a positive COVID.

They are supposed to do a deep cleaning, yes. I don't think this would require shutting down the store.

ETA: Pretty sure the only reason anyone would shut down is if there is some wild outbreak.

Rouses is a huge company. 4 sounds like a very minor issue.

Most places are and not even disclosing cases to vendor partners which sucks. If I get covid, I have to take all of my sick time plus go on short term disability per our company policy. frick all that.

But did you average customer who is in a store for 30 minutes 1 time a week, your risk is very small. You'd be surprised if you knew how many people you may have passed who had it and didn't give it to you.

The whole shutdown for two weeks or go home for two weeks because one person got it at work is unsustainable. One of the dumber policies floating around.

I agree, and let me clarify, my company policy kicks in if I get it, not if I just come into contact with someone with it.

In the latter, we "self monitor" for two weeks and keep a note of everyone we come in contact with so that if we do test positive, we can let the right people know.

I feel bad for the hourly employees that are going to get absolutely fricked by these policies when the gov gravy runs out

There are multiple spots on my neighborhood that have closed for two weeks for a “deep cleaning” after one person came up positive

What are you, the manager of Piggly Wiggly? If you’re scared, go to NuNus. Otherwise stop posting /spreading unsubstantiated rumors.

Your post reads like some pissed off woman is trying to get even for having her credit card declined at the store.
