My dad grew up on a farm in N. LA. He ate cornbread and milk all the time.

Well I don't consider myself a redneck but I'm from NELA and I enjoy some milk and cornbread.

I'll take it even further. My papaw... God rest his soul, gone for 25 years now... was a poor boy who did very well, and yet, his favorite desert was cornbread in buttermilk. This was in North Carolina, mind you. So it ain't a North/South LA thing. I think it's a country folk thing, as in, the people who make the world work.

But in his own words 45 years ago.

My great grandmother was so cajun her first language was French and she could barely speak English, and yet she loved cornbread with milk.. that was most often her breakfast, almost like cereal. I always thought it was a cajun thing.. guess not.
