Well I don't consider myself a redneck but I'm from NELA and I enjoy some milk and cornbread.

I remember my grandparents eating it. They are from Jackson Co Alabama. (North West)

Leftover cornbread from Sunday dinner, fig preserves, and milk was a Sunday night staple growing up, & I sure ain't no redneck.

I'll take it even further. My papaw... God rest his soul, gone for 25 years now... was a poor boy who did very well, and yet, his favorite desert was cornbread in buttermilk. This was in North Carolina, mind you. So it ain't a North/South LA thing. I think it's a country folk thing, as in, the people who make the world work.

Ive eaten it growing up.
My fathers side od the famil ate leftover rice, sugar and milk. All relatively cheap items being they grew up poor.

My great grandmother was so cajun her first language was French and she could barely speak English, and yet she loved cornbread with milk.. that was most often her breakfast, almost like cereal. I always thought it was a cajun thing.. guess not. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/icons/shrug.gif)
