It's not bragging, I just don't see the point in eating at chains when you could be supporting local businesses. On top of that, typically the food is inferior, too.
The person who made the initial comment is from New Orleans, you don't have to go out of your way to eat local in New Orleans.

Is this exclusive to New Orleans or something? I don't have to go out of my way to eat local in Dallas. I do have to go out of my way to find a lot of chains though.

No, but there are some smaller towns where chains make up the vast majority of restaurants. I can understand if you're in that situation you really don't have a lot of other options. But, if you live in a city that has a lot of local options, I don't see the reasoning behind eating at chain restaurants.

Mellow Mushroom is worse but it is close.

agreed...but I've come to learn that this is apparently what the food and drink board was created for

I mean it's the entire reasoning behind why chains exist. Easy, cheap, and you know exactly what you're getting whether you're in Virginia or California.
It really just boils down to convenience. Still, we probably eat like 80/20 local to chain, but BWW does the spot for watching sports.
Edit: and there's a metric frick ton of chains who HQ here in DFW so it's semi local.

I don't think it's elitist to expect a place with "wings" in its name to have decent wings.
Well they do. That's exactly the point. It's a chicken wing. Their wings arent the greatest culinary creation but it's a fried wing with sauce on it. It's the very definition of decent.

We'll agree to disagree. Their wings are dry and overcooked in my experience. But to each their own.

It ain't nearly as bad as Applebee's or TGI Fridays. 10+ years ago, the Bluebonnet location was my go-to spot for big sporting events. If your team isn't the home team, there are a lot worse places you can go to watch a game on satellite and drink beer.

It is the only restaurant I've ever sent food back at. The boneless wings were one of the most disgusting things I've ever attempted to eat in my life.

I guess.
I could also say a ton of chains are owned by local people.

It's basically a fried chicken nugget. The snobbery is hilarious.

How is stating something "bragging"? You're on the internet with people you don't know. The only way you're going to know something about them is if they tell you. How that is a "brag" of any kind if beyond my comprehension.

Yeah I don’t quite get the hate for bww. It’s bar food, what do people expect?
They have a good tv setup with a decent selection of beer, and imo very tasty sauces for their wings. The food is whatever, but again, it’s bar food, and they provide a pretty solid atmosphere to watch a game.

In my situation, there are 2 better sports bars between my house and the closest BWW. Both have a better beer selection, better food, and plenty of TVs, so it's a no-brainer.

Same for me, I'd have to pass a few local sports bars and a Walkon's (which is a much better "chain" sports bar) before even getting to a BWW.
I do realize that not everyone is in that situation though.

The problem is they suck at making bar food.
I can think of plenty of shithole dive bars around town whose kitchens are probably a mix of half-broken equipment operated by a revolving door of criminals and druggies and they somehow manage to make food I enjoy eating. If those places can do it why the hell can't a corporation worth billions with the word Wings in its name that probably employs people with titles like 'food scientist' make a burger or wings that doesn't suck?
