It’s certainly better than Bourbon and Coke

I disagree. The bitters may turn people off. Especially newbies.

This, as well as Manhattans. Whiskey/bourbon is properly served neat or on rocks to men.

Introduce?

It's booze.

Just drink the damn stuff, and find out what you like, and don't like.

I’ve had 5 today. Do yourself a favor and don’t go cheap on cherries. Buy Luxardo.

I can't drink scotch, but I love bourbon.

OP, I would start with something like Bulleit and Mexican Coke.

What is is nowadays with people trying to impress others with what they choose in a cocktail or worrying about some sort of judgment assigned to it?

Not wrong. Kind of a sissy drink, like a hazy IPA. But it’s a good intro to enjoying whiskey

Alright, scratch the Old Fashioneds, I'm out of oranges and low on simple syrup. I guess I'll be having Kentucky Mules instead. But first, a Pimm's and Lemonade.

Margaritas are for ladies and tourist as well
Whiskey in a glass is a good introduction to whiskey
Or straight out of the bottle, but technically that’s still whiskey in a glass.
