Best Greek restaurant in Baton Rouge? Maybe. You have options, Roman's, Albasha, Arzi's, Serop's and Zorba's.

Zorba’s is in a tier by itself above the rest of BR Greek food.
Then its Roman’s > Albasha > Serop’s

The Albasha express on Lee is the best and cleanest of them all. Menu is a little smaller but chicken shawarma and gyro meats are both very good. They also make a homeade chicken Alfredo covered with chicken shawarma meat that is freaking good.

I hit up the Serop’s express downtown for lunch periodically. People that work there are nice, the #1 is a solid lunch, hummus is delicious & their pita is not the best. That’s all I got

I love it. You gotta know what you’re doing though. Not for newbies.
I like Serops because it’s not JUST Lebanese food. There’s some other sides.
Also the Roman’s on Bluebonnet rocks for the pizza.

I eat at Serops on Highland just about every week.
It's enough food for lunch and dinner.
Love the cauliflower side.
and i'd prefer Serop's to Albasha, and Zorba's is the best, but that's not a quick lunch place like Serop's is.

Isn't Albasha actually Syrian? I always heard they used "Lebanese" because Syrian isn't seen as likeable.

Jordanian IIRC. Who cares... the food is tasty and I miss it greatly when out of "Greek and Lebanese" BRtown.

I have noticed that a lot of people who move out of town will tell you Albasha is the first place they want to go to when they are back visiting. They have had good locations across the city for decades and I’ve always found them to be quick, reliable, and fairly consistent. I think it is a nostalgic thing. People love their salad dressing and I think the rice pilaf is the best in town. The shawarma and hummus are about the same as the other great places. Same for the pita, except for Roman’s at Perkins/Bluebonnet which definitely has the best pita in town. Roman’s would probably be my favorite, but Albasha is always in the mix.
No way I would call Albasha the best restaurant in town, but I could see how someone would say it is their favorite.
