Inn at Little Washington's Answer to Social Distancing and Dining In

This is certainly interesting. The empty tables will have dressed up mannequins, so folks won't feel like they're not eating alone or with just a few people.

Fun or creepy or what?

Hugely successful as a PR tool....this is at least the fourth or fifth mention of the mannequins Ive seen in the last two days.

Some places are using blow up dolls.

Is the one in the straw hat proposing?
Maybe even stranger, is the one alone at the back table the Phantom of the Opera?

That's creepy as hell.
However, we ate there once and that restaurant is absolutely outstanding. Definitely worthy of the 3 Michelin Stars. We even got to go back into the kitchen and meet Chef Patrick.
That area of the state is incredibly beautiful, as well.

It's a GREAT restaurant.
It's my most favorite dining experience. I've been fortunate enough to stay there several times and have multiple meals each stay. The place is fascinating when you read about how it's run, the ratings of the diners as they arrive and their ratings when they leave. After our first dinner there, they brought us in the kitchen and showed us where the staff rated us on arrival on a chalkboard. We were already a 9 going in, so getting us to a 10 was a no brainer.
When I first went, they served breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was as good as the dinner meal. I remember having rainbow trout, fresh caught from a pond they had, covered in thinly cut potatoes that looked like scales and were browned and crispy. This was a melt in your mouth dish.
The area is beautiful. I think it's a little more built up now, but still quaint. When we first went, there wasn't much of anything around, other than one small shop or two.
The rooms in the Inn are gorgeous and the attention to detail is extraordinary, both in decor and customer service. I would love to go back one day.

weird, but they can't complain about the food or service

I'd go visit, but I lost my straw hat in a windstorm last week.

They need to put masks on them.

I actually love about 10 min from there and have never eaten there! It attracts mainly people from DC. Still a small beautiful little town. I hear the food is very good.

Do you live in Sperryville? That’s where we stayed and I’m genuinely in love with that town.

The entire experience is excellent. You should consider going, but if you do, you probably have to plan way in advance. We did and that was some years ago, but we were also staying in the Inn.
There were a number of limos bringing folks from DC for dinner when we were there.

When it opens back up head over to Marshall and have brunch or dinner at Field and Main. It's fantastic.

I do live in sperryville. Awesome mountain town. I’ll buy you a beer if you come back here to visit at Pwn Druid. We love camping and hiking around here

No kidding? Seriously, incredible town. I’m not usually a small town guy, but I could live there. The pub with the 9-hole course is insane, and I could sit at that distillery along the river all day. We were there the weekend of Sperryfest by coincidence and it was a ton of fun.
We tried last minute to get into Three Blacksmiths but weren’t able to. We do plan on going back someday.
