There seems to be thousands of different brands out there. Is there anything I should watch out for or are they all pretty much the same?
America's Test Kitchen recommended this one. Do y'all have a favorite?

I bought a Cuisinart one from Costco and I love it.

Got a Cuisinart oven-style and we love it. Just make sure to get the digital version - it's much more convenient and versatile.

I have the ninja one that flips up to save counter space. It also has a toaster function. It does the job.

If you have the time, check out Chris Young video series on YT. He reviews several smart ovens/air fryers. IIRC, he like Ninja the best for air frying.

Ok, so the oven type seems to be popular. I had not even considered them. I was thinking basket type. Thanks for the replies.

I have a Ninja Foodie 8-in-1 device. Looks like R2D2. It's fine for two people and I like all the things it can do -- pressure cooker, slow cooker, roaster, etc -- but I mainly use the air fryer function and the space is limited in this configuration. For more than two, I'd go for a toaster oven design, unless you use all the other functions.

I prefer oven style over basket style. Much more versatile than the basket style to me. I cook in mine all summer long. Bakes, broils, toasts and air fries. Pretty sure I got it on sale for under $100.

Chefman Air Fryer- $129.99

Don't buy one with mechanical knobs for timing. You can't tell how much time is left and that is important when converting package baking instructions for your air fryer.

The Ninja that flips up for storage is the oven kind. I’ve had the basket kind and much prefer this one. Look how much can fit!

Wish I had something more exciting than okra pictured.

I read that and watched a bunch of video reviews. Ended up with the Instant Pot Vortex that ATK recommended, except I got the the model that has the "ClearCook Cooking Window". Love it.

Well worth the extra $20 or so to be able to see how the food is doing without having to open the drawer.

If you plan on using it to toast bread, make sure that you get the oven style.

I got an Emeril 360, and it works fine for us. I have never owned one of the basket style fryers.

For sure. I now, after having a basket Ninja one, have a 13-1 Foodie. It's a pain in the arse to clean.
