I'm staying by Rice university, walking distance in that area, off Bissonet. At zoo now, see Torchy's is close checking recs against location now.

That's too far for me to go for food. Probably staying in the Richmond area with trips to galleria and downtown area.
Actually just sat at El Tiempo. Not a fan of small places with parking lots that are valet only, lol. But so far the salsa and queso is delicious. Menu is huge. Very overwhelming. I got the diablos tacos, a tamale and a beef taco a la cart.
Passed some good looking places on Richmond. Oui Bahn Mi looked interesting.
The kids really want Italian. I saw a Bucca di beppo near the HEB by the hotel. I've heard if that place, but not sure about it.
Probably getting torchy's Monday on the way out.

Cyclone is terrible.
It's by location IMO.
We ate at the Woodway location, and it WAS terrible. Certainly for the price.
The City Center location was still awesome last time we went.
I just know the one in Midtown by Christians Tailgate was always chok full of eye candy. Top shelf eye candy.

If you want Italian do Crisp in the heights or Paulie's on Westheimer. The special tonight is pasta con sarde...which is my favorite dish they do.
El Tiempo the only move to do is the parrilladas with a medium guac. Their queso sucks.

I guess ninfas on navigation would have been a decent option too

Had el tiempo four for lunch. Very happy with everything we had. Steak fajitas were delicious, great enchiladas and the tacos were huge.
We got a whole bunch and split it, no room for dessert.
It's a place I would return to for sure.

Lopez is legit. Old place but they do it right.

I'm in Houston, want great tex-mex
El Tiempo Cantina
Runner up, Lupe Tortilla.
However, there is a big difference between first and second, in terms of fajitas.

While we are on the subject of fajitas. I've gone to fajitas a go go on Kirby twice and have been impressed both times.
I agree with offshore on crisp, solid spot.
Other family friendly lunch spots:
Ruggles
Any of the Barnaby's locations
Lola (in the heights)
Local foods
These are all very casual.
