40% of the population tastes cilantro as soapy. My wife does. I love it. Just have on tacos or Vietnamese.

Why the hell do they have to put this crap in Italian sausage?

I attribute my dislike of Italian sausage to fennel seeds. For testing purposes, is it possible to get the former without the latter?

I've heard it's more like 10%. I hate cilantro and fennel seeds.

They're a digestive aid. Eat s pinch of fennel seeds after a spicy Indian meal and it will aid digestion. That's why there's a bowl of them by the door. Try it. It works.

Maybe if they were ground and used to season throughout they could be tolerable in small doses.

Grinding the fennel helps tremendously. I love the flavor, but it needs to be distributed.

Have you ever tried Fennel Pollen? There was a restaurant in Houston that used on a few dishes, pretty good.

Fennel Pollen, Organic

quote:

Peggy Knickerbocker, writing for Saveur Magazine, describes it thus: "If angels sprinkled a spice from their wings, this would be it." Many, many fennel flowers are need to create even a small amount of this pollen, making this spice nearly as expensive as saffron. The lovely flavor is like a much sweeter and more powerful fennel seed. Fennel pollen is popular in Italy, where cooks add to their olive oil for bread and make a fennel pesto.
This is a versatile spice with many uses. It adds a bright burst of flavor to everything it touches, from roast chicken to vegetables. It’s wonderful sprinkled on salads and pork roasts and is especially tasty on fish like salmon. A little fennel pollen goes a long way - start off with a tiny pinch added to the top of your dish.

Oddly enough, I hated the flavor for years... italian sausage on pizza, etc. was revolting. Now, I love it. I never make spaghetti sauce (basic Marinara for family spaghetti, or whatever), without adding 6-12 links. When I process deer, I make some italian sausage for use in lasagna or spagets. I almost always get it on pizza.

I hate black jelly beans, but love italian sausage. Oh... and I'm not averse to Sambuca with an espresso as an apertif.

Love fennel seeds so much I added fennel to each corner of my 5 garden boxes.

Toast the seeds in a dry pan, grind with coriander, use to coat pork roasts.

I like star anise, licorice and even basil but I don't like fennel or tarragon.
