I didn't know about the Mississippi BBQ Trail

That’s a pretty long list. How many have you been to?

Did they just list every BBQ place in the state?

I'd love to have the list with the top 20.

Pretty sure that’s exactly what they did. There are multiple places on that list that are average at best.

Hanks in Columbus is the best place I've eaten from the list.

I have eaten at only a few of these. Maybe 10.

I think anyone can get their place added to the list. It has nothing to do with quality. However if you are going to Toomsuba, or Pantherburn, you can lok up and see if there is a BBQ place there, or somewhere close. Doesn't mean they will be good.

Two other things.

1 - I have never had any BBQ I didn't like enough to finish my order, but my gut is stronger then others here, and out of hunger, I have eaten somevery strange things.

2 - Way back when, there was a chain of BQ places called Coleman's BBQ. You could eat at one of them and smell like smoke for a week afterwards. I noticed there are still two of them in Tiny Towns in Mississippi. I may make a pilgrimage to one or both to see how well my memory of their BBQ is. Sadly, when there were a lot of them around, The wife and I were pretty much broke all the time and could seldom afford a meal from Coleman's. For us, back in those days, it was like going to the Ritz or Comander's Palace for a BBQ sandwich.

I'll let you guys know if they (Hernando and Senatobia) are as good as i remember.

3 - My all time favorite was Clark's MInute Mart in Sarkville. They are long gone now, but when I was in Grad School, Clark's had Pork BBQ sandwiches (Almost no meat at all on them) for 5 for a dollar. We had 5 of them about once a week and thought it was big eating. There was a hot storage cabinet just inside the front door they kep well stocked. There was almost no meat on them, but the heavenly smel filled the entire curb serve. I can close my eyes and stll bring back the fragrance 50 years later.


Coater: Love the pork BBQ Nachos at Pig and Pint. Those pickled red onions they serve on top of them are killer good.

I may print the list and try all of the Dickie's locations. I happen to think ordering a half pound of their pulled pork and eating it with a fork out on the lot, with a Diet Dr. Pepper. Actually share the half pound with the wife no sauce, no bread, nothing but smoked meat.

Of course, I have eaten coon, possum, rat, cat, dog, snake, c-ration ham and eggs from a can sitting in mud in the rain, bla bla bla. Makes you appreciate Dickie's and Clarks Minute Mart.

GT0107 - A BBQ place in a BP gas Station has to be good. Get a piece of chicken and an order in fried okra from them too.

I’d do unnatural things for some E&L rib tips.

I’m also surprised the bbq place in the Exxon on north side in Clinton wasn’t on the list. I like their ribs.

I see vines is on that list, don’t bother it’s terrible

Yes those are really good

I also occasionally mix it up with the bacon melt

Let us not forget their chicken on a stick. Second best I’ve ever had, close behind the gas station on 18 in port gibson (though they don’t cook them anymore down there).

Every BBQ place in the Tupelo area made the list. Some are awful or no longer in business. Romie's on Troy St closed 5+ years ago.
