The only problem I have is that it is not an original idea like everyone thinks it is. Todd worked for a place called Guthries in Athens, GA. Guthries was started in 1969 and the only thing they serve is chicken fingers, fries, toast, slaw and a special sauce which is exactly like canes.

Did Guthries have a plan to open a place at the gates of LSU, expand throughout La. and eventually the rest of the country?

If not, his was an "original" idea -- at least enough to count for one in my mind.

And, as for the silly notion that these guys are just successful because of "daddy's money," it's funny how I've met and know lots of folks whose daddys have a lot more money than any of these dudes, who are nothing but wastes of space. That's beyond being a silly point, even if it's true.

I'm sure WalkOns (and Brandon and Jack) do ok financially, but there simply is not huge money in the restaurant/bar business. Can someone make a decent living? Of course. But get filthy rich? No way, it doesn't happen.

The money they make comes from the bar, and location (and their ties with LSU) help them in that respect.

They're certianly not going to become millionaires off of Walk-Ons in and of itself.

Y.A. -- i hear you on this .. but there are a lot of people that i have run across over the years that couldn't find their asses with a road map, that were successful in the restaurant/bar biz because of location and other positive factors .. then i have seen some truly intellegent, hard working, frugal people in the biz just not make it because they didn't the breaks that the douchebags got ..

I'd love to read their franshisee hand book.

Step 1- find a fantastic location

There are way to many restaurants that think they can sell franchises now.

Rocco's is planning on franchising- Rocco's.

Coyote Blues is a pretty decent place IMO. The seafood Chimis are very good and the items that are cajun fusion. I dont care much for the tex-mex style stuff but the cajun/mex stuff is pretty good.

You know, the only thing that bothers me about Brandon is that he can get piss arse drunk, run over somebody, and daddies money can make it all go away.

Screw him and his shitty arse restaurant.

daddy's family's been in the rice and sugar cane farming biz for generations and owns an assload of land .. anyone who has been around this knows that it is a "cash" business .. dad also started harvest-sugarland motors in plaquemine and sold it to brian harris for a few coins ..
