I think there may be a Portland bias on here, but I'm not sure. I know that Portland taprooms are waaaay better than Denver taprooms, although you could probably make a case either way for the breweries. Portland taprooms are just crazy good.

Loyal Legion should be on the list. The Beermongers should be on the list. Both, before Saraveza and Horse Brass.

I thought that might get your attention...

I've been to 9.

I don't get the sense that many people go to taprooms like they do restaurants. The taprooms may be less concentrated than the restaurants, though.

I looked it up. Large taplist, but there were a lot of flagship beers on the list - West Coast IPA, Lagunitas IPA, etc. Anything with Stella Artois on tap should probably be disqualified, tbh.

My count was 14, and I wouldn’t consider myself a person who hunts out taprooms. I’d rather visit a brewery, although from what you’ve said in Portland taprooms are the way to go.

Well there's 16 of them total... counting one in DFW... I guess they aren't all "top" taprooms?

ETA: I have been to the following:
1. Apex
17. Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse
33. Flying Saucer Houston
36. The Ginger Man
65. The Blind Tiger
81. Novare Res Bier Cafe
83. Rattle N Hum
84. Spuyten Duyvil
88. Avenue Pub
105. Thirsty Monk

I love visiting breweries, but there are so many in Portland and the taprooms are too convenient and the variety is much better. Just go look at the taplists at Apex, Belmont Station, Bailey's, etc.

The biggest difference with taprooms is that almost all of them are 100% rotating. When the keg is gone, it's replaced by something different and you won't see that other beer for 6 months. The breweries may have 10 kegs of that one off that they have to plow through and I can get it on distro at a taproom. I enjoy the constant change.

Breweries tend to be more family-friendly as well, in my experience... but yeah obviously a much more limited selection.
