150-175lbs

eta: we cater a lot and 1.5lbs per person is normal. For smaller groups your backyard, I do 2lbs per person.

Of headless shrimp?

That's like 130-150lbs of meat. That's almost a pound and a half of meat per person to go along with corn, potatoes, etc.

2# per person?!? No. Maybe if you are feeding a bunch of gastric bypass candidates.

You either don't really cater a lot or lose a lot of money when you do. Do you serve 24 ounce steaks to every man, woman and child at these catered affairs?

Do a pound of headless per person (man/woman) and half a pound per child. Do several sides not just corn and potatoes. Make sure to have plenty of French bread, that is always filling and always goes good with skrimp juice.

Good luck... It time for me to get some lbs of boiled shrimps and half dozen blue crabs.

Exactly what I was thinking. Every trip my family of 16 or so takes to the beach, we do a couple of nights of shrimp boils with corn, baguettes, and salad. We all try to strategically maneuver the grocery duties so that we're not the ones going to pick up provisions for that night. It always runs around $200 for 10 adults (other 6 are kids). So multiply that times 10.

3 to 4lbs a person? That is way too much.

What person eats 4+ pounds of food in a sitting?

No way in hell they taste the same. Don't y'all suck the heads? It's the best part.

The meat pretty much tastes the same. If you want to suck the heads that's a different thing.

I usually boil head-on shrimp but have boiled headless tons of times. In his case, he said he was doing headless and everyone said it was dumb. It's still shrimp and in certain situations it will save some time and cleanup.

Odds are he's not cooking for a 100 coonasses. Nobody's going to eat the heads and some might not even eat the shrimp if you left the heads on.

Add some smoked sausage, yellow onions, mushrooms, and cocktail weiners to the boil to go with corn and potatoes and you'll be able to stretch everything out alot further.
