If the guy said that Outback was expensive for much lower quality, I could totally understand the sentiment. Unfortunately, that is not what he said. It really comes off that the guys really resents paying for prepared food.
Or maybe I just don't care to go spend the same amount of money that could keep groceries in my house for two weeks.

Clearly my tastes aren't as refined as yours because I actually like the steaks at Outback. I'm sorry to have bothered you with my filthy unrefined presence.

I've never been to Flemmings so I can't really comment on the price or quality there. I did go to RC Thursday night but I drank too much to remember if it was good or not.

This thread isn't even about food.

Yes, Ruth's Chris cost a lot more than Outback.

Good luck to you

Ruth Chris is pretty good. People usually dress up and go there for the "quiet, fancy" atmosphere. I like it. Can you get better steaks for better prices? Probably, but it's not badly priced for an upscale steakhouse.

Get the sauteed New Orleans shrimp over garlic mashed potatoes for an appetizer.

For four people without alcohol you can spend +125$. Depending on what you order.

Baton Rouge location has a $20 power lunch. Not sure if Birmingham does though...

It's a 8oz filet, side, and a salad. can't beat it for the $$ Im pretty sure you can get another meat as well, but the small ribeye isn't doing anybody justice.

Don't sweat the douche and his smartass responses in this thread.

Ruth's Chris is a lot more expensive than Outback, but the food is also a lot better. Look at it like you are buying a BMW instead of a Ford.

If you are going to resent paying the money, then you won't enjoy it, so save yourself the trip.

The Melting Pot is also another a very good restaurant that I enjoy, but it's overpriced for what you get.

Plan on $50 minimum per person when you go, which should cover lunch, drinks, and gratuity.

If you do go, let us know what you get and what you think.

Right. But Rouge knows about as much about food as you do.

If you have to ask you can't afford it.

Seriously, value is in the eye of the beholder. If you would enjoy a steak at a cheaper place just as much, go there, you will be more comfortable anyway. If you don't mind blowing $150 on a treat for 2, RC is as good a place to do it as any. Eating out is about enjoying yourself, if I overspend sometimes it's usually to be with a group that wants to blow a wad.

In the days before I could afford elite restaurants I got just as much satisfaction over finding a hidden gem as I would eating at RC. Still do.

not sure what type you were buying but i imagine $30 at whole foods will get you 2 or 3 lbs at least woth of meat vs. a single 12oz ribeye at chris...

check the prices again. You can 2 or 3 lbs of flank.

I do like the ribeye at Ruth's a lot but I'm not willing or able to go there often. Definitely a once in a blue moon stop for me.

The correct response to the OP is that it will be a good steak, the side orders are all huge(split) and great BUT.......

If money is so tight that you are worried about it then it is not worth it. If there is a cheaper spot you like then hit that place.

If you aren't going to be ill with the bill, then try Ruth's.

I'm not an anti-chain hating food snob. If things are tight, you can have just as much fun at a cheaper place and you won't wake up tomorrow wondering how much money you can get selling blood this week.
