OT spills over to the food board now and then. that's why we have to put up with count.

Good food. Very expensive. Typical corporate chain atmosphere. i.e. none.

Would not waste my money there.

p.s. I am not anti chain at all. The value in this one is way lacking though.

What are some other prime steakhouses that are worth the money?

If you are concerned about the money, don't go.

yes

the poster is a cheap arse who obviously cares more about price than any sort of quality

Could be a school teacher. Could be new to the work force with loans and debts to pay. Could be newly married.

Or could be like me. I so well, but I pay out over $55 thousand dollars per year in tuitions at various places. After tax.

So I am very careful about where I spend my money and yes $200 out is a lot.

Depends. Some are better than others when it comes to atmosphere. Smith and Wollensky and Morton's are the same way. It depends upon location.

I agree the prices are silly, but the steaks are usually well prepared and they definitely use prime cuts of beef.

Also, you can't duplicate their preparation even if you splurge for prime steak at home.

This, my wife refused to buy some steaks at whole food the other day. Said if she was going to pay thirty bucks for a steak, someone was going to serve it to her at Ruth Chris'.

If the guy said that Outback was expensive for much lower quality, I could totally understand the sentiment. Unfortunately, that is not what he said. It really comes off that the guys really resents paying for prepared food.

not sure what type you were buying but i imagine $30 at whole foods will get you 2 or 3 lbs at least woth of meat vs. a single 12oz ribeye at chris...

me, i like the way my grilled ribeyes taste. i'd always opt to buy my own meat.

I have to say I agree with Rouge, but I'll be nicer.

At this point in his life, he just can't afford more. Might want to stick to the Outback and Chilis of the world.

another place you can go to is firebirds near the galleria mall. it is located in the patton chapel area. Just as good and half the price. Steak for steak not much difference.

As stated, it is pretty good, but don't go if you aren't willing to spend the money and enjoy it.

I do think it is funny that in alot of areas of the country, people think that Ruth's is some kind of fine dining mecca.

That's a good question.

I've been to Chops, Bones and some others here. I like them better.

And better than Morton's as well. I agree it is sort of the same.

Look, I am not against Ruth's Chris. It is good quality to be sure even if not my choice.

And as an aside, I get riled up when people begin picking on a guy and calling him names for asking an honest question.

Rouge, I apoligize. I don't take back my thoughts but I do apologize for the tenor and some of what I said. I will edit.

I think Flemings is worth the money. I don't care for Chris.

And to the other poster they do not dry age. They wet age and it's a big difference.

And I don't need to get to eighteen hundred degrees to cook a good steak at home.

And Headslash, while I like to do them at home, change Chris to Flemings and I'll agree with your wife.

We dropped right around $200 last time. But we got wine and appetizers and all. Maybe $220-$240

Considering that I was not addressing you in any form, I tend to agree. While an apology is always appreciated, it really is neither warranted nor necessary.

Definitely not hard to do that (I've only eaten dinner at RC, but I'd think lunch would be cheaper). Either way, you're going to pay more than you would at other chains, but you're going to get very good food.

Don't skip the lobster bisque. Seriously good stuff.
