How bad would 2 year old Hopslam be?

As bad as day old hopslam

Crack it open and try it.

It won't kill you. It may taste terrible.

One was always enough for me.

I didn’t even buy any this year when I saw it at the store.

It’s not bad but the price is ridiculous. I was expecting something really special but it’s fairly ordinary. It’s not worth it. Hoptimum from Sierra Nevada is great and a much better value. And I’m a big fan of Bell’s.

Hoptimum is 11%, tastes great, and costs less. I think some people just like Hopslam because it costs so much and they think they’re supposed to love it. I heard all this talk about it. When I finally tried it I had high expectations. I was severely disappointed.

What daily basis? That’s got nothing to do with it. I’m more of a weekend drinker. Hopslam costs $16-$17 for a 6-pack. It’s not worth it. For that price it should taste a lot better than it does. It’s not about price, it’s about value. I define value as a function of quality vs. price and the quality of Hopslam doesn’t justify the price, imo.

My two beers that I typically drink are Commodore Perry by Great Lakes Brewing and Bell’s Two Hearted Ale. Those go for $10-$11 for a 6-pack. Bell’s Hopsolution is also good. So is Truth by Rhinegeist out of Cincinnati. My very favorite is a seasonal brew from Great Lakes called Lake Erie Monster. It’s excellent. It runs $12 for a 4-pack but it’s worth it because the quality is there. That stuff rocks.

What sucks is now all my favorite beers are moving from bottles to cans. There’s a difference. Lake Erie Monster is now only sold in cans but I’ll make an exception for them. Truth has always only come in cans so I’ll only drink it on draft. Two Hearted Ale is all cans now. Commodore Perry moved to cans for a number of months but it’s back out in bottles now so I usually buy a sixer when I see it in the store for fear that they’ll disappear soon. I’ll probably break down and by a second 4-pack of Lake Erie Monster cans this year before they disappear from the shelves just because it’s so freaking good. But I’ll be cursing a little under my breath when I do it. If they sold it in bottles I’d buy a lot more of it.
