Going to be spending a good bit of time in Houston. What are some good spots to try while I'm here?

BB's - Tex/Cajun dishes with a solid Po Boy lineup. $10-$20 a plate depending on what you get.
Taste of Texas - My favorite place to eat if I had more money. Steakhouse with pretty reasonable pricing for the quality, but definitely more than a normal meal. Probably the only steakhouse that I would even mention the salad bar/bread...but its awesome. Highly suggest getting the jalapeño stuffed shrimp as an appetizer if you go.

Dunno.
I like their salad bar. Nothing better than shaving a half pound of cheese of those giant blocks they have.
As to BB's...I've never been there. Nothing about that place has drawn me in. I've never craved a poboy that bad...there is just too much good food in this city.

My comment was more directed at the BB's recommendation given to someone coming from LA to Houston, but I still don't care for Taste of Texas very much. I do enjoy the salad bar, but I haven't been very impressed with their steaks. There are at least half a dozen other steakhouses I would rather go to in Houston.
Granted, if he is staying at the Westin, then sure, go for it, but if he is staying Downtown or Galleria, I wouldn't go out of my way for Taste of Texas.

All I've got on Pearland is Ronnie Killen's places. He's got a steakhouse that's widely considered one of the best in town, a BBQ place-which IS probably this best in town, and a recently opened burger joint which I can only speculate is just as good as the other two.
Other than those....King's Biergarden...decent German food.
Pasadena...Pasadena area really...the Monument Inn is really good.
I can make a huge list of places IN town if you want.

Thats fair. Also definitely understand the "Haven't been drawn in" comment, as it looks like a glorified food truck. I live less than a quater mile away, so we walked there when I moved in and really enjoyed it.
I guess I've just gotten lucky at ToT with the steak.
Offshore feel free to throw down your in town list, I don't eat out often, but enjoy trying new things.

I haven't spent a ton of time in Houston, but The Hay Merchant had a really good beer selection when I went a couple years ago.

Welcome to my neck of the woods. We ain't got shite but Killen's two (now THREE!) restaurants! It's incredibly depressing. And everything new going up is in the same mold. Jimmi Changa's, Pappasitos, etc... It's Baton Rouge, without the few good privately owned establishments.
The Beirgarden is supposed to be great, but I haven't been.
Rice village is your closest good spot, and downtown is really easy to reach quickly. OffShoreAngler can probably expand on those two areas better than I can.
I'll throw in Reef Downtown and Torchy's taco's in Rice village.

Petrol Station fits into both of these.
ETA: I want to go try Hopdoddy soon
