Yeah I like Sprouts a lot. They have pretty cheap produce and meat. I usually can get gala or pink lady apples for 1-1.50 a pound. They're chicken sausages in the deli are good.
Way better than Trader Joe's..I honestly don't get the appeal with Trader Joe's

Trader joes is extremely meh. Central market/HEB is the best. Fresh market always just seemed like a whole foods with less inventory.

Trader Joes will open end of September,
You must be confused about stores is all I can say.
They just don't fit any specific need that some place else doesn't already fill.
My only positive for them is that their pre seasoned and ready to cook meats and seafood stuff is nice, but it's not enough to get me there very often.

I go to Fresh Market at least twice a month for $2.99 Tuesday, although there used to be a lot more on sale those days. It's gone from a good 10-12 items to some weeks just being the chicken and ground meat, and maybe 1-2 more items.
I'll also shop their specials. Sometimes their organic milk is $2.99/gal or their organic salads are 2 for 1. They have some pretty good soups that I will buy if they are on sale, as well as some great salad dressings.
But I have never, ever purchased anything from that store that was not on sale.
And yeah, if HEB were to come to NOLA, I'd buy 100 percent of my groceries there. NOLA probably "needs" a store like Fresh Market more than Houston does.

We drive past sprouts to go to trader joes. The appeal with trader joes is cookie butter.

I bet the Perkins Rowe location won't last much longer too.

The one in laffy never seems busy

I to go to Fresh Market for convenience. Very quick trip from my house. Walking distance, actually. I can't get everything I want there, but they serve the purpose when I need something and the quality is consistent.

The Fresh Market in Fort Worth is pretty damn close to Central Market and can't imagine that it will last much longer. Been open a year or so, maybe?
FM is always empty, which is nice to get in and out if I want a nice cut of meat. As someone said above, their overall selection just seems limited.
CM is always slammed with a much, much better selection. Slammed, but I can also get in and out pretty fast too. Shop at CM probably 3 times a week. GOAT

What in the hell is fresh market ?

High quality grocery store. Similar in quality to whole foods or central market. A grade above Kroger, albertsons, et al

I'm a huge Fresh Market shopper. I hope the one in BR is doing okay

I was never a fan of Fresh Market. When they took over all the Rice Epicurean space a couple years back I didn't think they would last. Opening one up right across the street from Central Market was about as dumb as you can get.

I actually prefer Fresh Market to Whole Foods in Baton Rouge. The baked goods are better and they have a higher end selection of pasta and cheese. I've never found their meat selection to be bad. The Italian sausages and pork are better than WF. The atmosphere is also much better than WF.
