Headed to Austin this weekend. Any recommendations? Looking for a good brunch, but reasonably priced. Also, 1 casual dinner spot to hit before going out for some live music.

What part of town?

Are you doing the Lake Travis Spring Festival?

If so, then hit Jack Allen's down 71 at the Y.

I've heard that the view is great at Oasis, but the food is just o.k. I want really great food.

Just got done reading reviews and definitely can't bring myself to hit the Oasis. Views look INCREDIBLE, but the overall consensus is that the food SUCKS!

Not going to the fest. Will be there for a quick weekend for my godchild's graduation.

I'm pretty sure we're going to go ziplining over Lake Travis. We're staying in the Northwest part of town, but we have a car...so we're up for going anywhere.

I was considering Moonshine for brunch. Glad to see that you mentioned it!

Had also considered Fonda San Miguel, but just didn't want to drop $40 a person for brunch...and that's before any drinks.

Man, if y'all are NW and in Volente for the zip line, then you could not have picked two worse spots for food.

What day are y'all planning brunch? If Sunday, then you should do the Stubb's Gospel Brunch if you have not already done it.

Gospel Brunch

ZTejas is North - they have a decent brunch
Taverna
Chez Zee
Moonshine

Should all be good choices...

Hmmm...I think we'll be doing Jack Allen's brunch.

Thanks, for planting the seed!

Dinner - there's a ton of places...but you'll have to leave the NW burbs.

Lambert's
Second Bar and Kitchen
Taverna
Foreign and Domestic
Gumbo's
Moonshine
La Condesa

I could go on...

Go for dinner and get the Carne Asada a la Tampiquena.

What's her interest level here?

I'm an outsider, have only been twice, don't know the story here, but enjoyed it both times.

We are staying NW only because it's where my godchild's graduation is and where my family picked to stay. We ARE NOT limiting ourselves to NW. We have a rental car and are up for going anywhere. We're doing brunch Sunday. I had considered the Stubb's gospel brunch. Have you personally done it, or just heard that it was good.

I'm going between Stubbs and Moonshine for brunch.

The zipline is very early Saturday a.m. We'll just grab a quick lunch after that. Saturday during the day is the graduation followed by a crawfish boil at a park out there. So we'll want to grab dinner somewhere late before going out.

Sunday we'll have brunch before hitting he road to head home.

Damn it...

I always do that!

It's not Moonshine, it's Bess Bistro - she owns it.

My bad.

Ah, I'll have to keep that in mind next time I am down in Austin again (usually there every two weeks), so is she there often?

We've done it, and it was good. It's just a cool Austin event that you can say you did. Get there early.

For dinner, Fonda is awesome - I love it. But, Second Bar+ Kitchen is pretty cool and the food is good, and is in a great location to other things. I have not been to Foreign and Domestic, but it's supposed to be awesome.

If you like Sushi, then try to hit James Beard winner Tyson Cole's Uchi, or Uchiko - Paul Qui's place with Cole (I'll be there Thursday night, so I can give you a heads-up if you're interested).

I honestly do not know.

Let me know next time you're in town - I'll be happy to meet you somewhere.
