A friend once told me it was the secret ingredient in his gumbo. Said throw a pack in it to intensify the flavor.

1. People who put seafood and chicken/sausage in the same gumbo are fricking assholes. Hardly anybody likes seafood gumbo more than traditional gumbo to begin with and nobody likes a weird shitty combination of them

2. Those dried shrimp are delicious to eat by themselves

No, I don't spy on others while grocery shopping.

I’ll take a good seafood gumbo over a chicken and sausage gumbo, however I agree you shouldn’t mix the two. I only saw someone buy the dried shrimp once.

I respect your preference and glad we both agree on not mixing the 2. To me seafood gumbo just smells funky and is like twice as expensive to make

He puts them in his seafood gumbo. I agree with you. I never mix seafood in with a chicken and sausage gumbo, or a jambalaya for that matter.

I always thought those were what’s left when a shrimp sheds its skin. Didn’t know they were actual shrimp.

The ones at Tony's are my favorite.

I have never added them to a Seafood Gumbo but I would do it in a heartbeat.

They are delicious.

they are going to add very good flavor and i know lots of people who throw them in many dishes.

i saw the other day they have the dried shrimp pureed into a powder form as well, i guess thats so you dont get the chewy bits mixed in your food that could seem strange and different.

I love duck and sausage gumbo. I honestly haven’t tried duck and oyster so don’t really have an opinion, but I love oyster. Maybe I’ll whip one up
