One of my favorite places for pizza that I go to regularly was on DDD; Louie's in Dallas. It's a dive bar that was in a sort of sketchy area at the time and after the show aired the suburban tourists started showing up causing waits for tables. They also started complaining about the service which was slow even before the crowds showed up. One night Louie, who was about 6'-3" with a booming baritone voice, had enough and at the top of his lungs yelled "frick You, get the frick Out" to some people that were complaining. That was awesome!

Hit the one food stand in Key West, it was really good. Hit 90 Miles in Chicago all the time. Cuban. It's great. Hit Irazu in Chicago once. Costa Rican. Decent, but not great. Smoque BBQ in Chicago - really good Hopleaf in Chicago - didn't eat DMK Burger Bar in Chicago - Good Chilam Balam in Chicago - Very good Big and Little's in Chicago - Fantastic Kuma's Korner in Chicago - Awesome burgers...they're over the top. The heavy metal gets to be a bit much by the end.

Damn, boy. Seems like you’re on a journey to find flavortown.

Went to Pok Pok and the Country Cat in Portland, OR, they were damn good. Been to Marietta Diner and Fox Bros BBQ here in ATL. Fox Bros is pretty good, not to keen on M Diner.

I’ve been to The Shed and Round Rock Donuts

The Shed was horrible when I went. I’ve heard some people like it and I’ve heard my experience.

Round Rock Donuts was the place they used free range chicken eggs. The glaze was like a orange color. Honestly, it wasn’t any better than say Krispy Kreme. It isn’t a very big place, but the people were nice and the doughnuts were good. If you’ve never had anything but Dunkin Donuts then I understand the hype. Overall, they were good.

I really wanted to try Juan in a Million in Austin, but didn’t get around to it.

Hopleaf in Chicago - didn't eat

Hopleaf is a Michelin Bib Gourmand awarded restaurant. It’s legit food in addition to having one of the best beer lists in the city.

In Charlotte:

Improper Pig: Sucks. 5 minutes from my house and I never go. Way better BBQ elsewhere

Intermezzo: very good. Sort of odd combo of pizza and Serbian cuisine, but it works

300 East: very good for brunch

Bang Bang Burger: Best burgers in town

Cabo Fish Taco: Great

JJs Red Hots: Very creative hot dogs. People love it but I was underwhelmed

Didn’t visit it because of Guy, but we’ve been to Bob’s Taco Station in Rosenberg a couple times after early morning Mass.

Pretty tasty. Not some amazing, eye opening meal, but not the slightest bit disappointing either.

Kicks arse. Love sitting on their patio during the summer months.

Big and Little's in Chicago - Fantastic

I enjoy it, too. Have never been to the River North location, but I usually go to their Milwaukee Ave location.

I can see why people really like Kuma's, but I'm not sure what I think of it. There's so much happening on each burger and the patty is a bit muted - can't really taste it.

-------

A bit of a hike, but Vito & Nick's is good. I'm a sucker for cracker-thin, tavern cut pizza and this does it so well. I almost never get there because of distance from the north side, but Phil's isn't too far!

I've never watched that show, but I've been to a steakhouse that someone was telling was on the show. It's this place in Albuquerque, in the back of a liquor store. I enjoyed it, will certainly stop by next time I'm there.

Juan in a Million in Austin

Oh, I went there for lunch in November. It was a little hole in the wall Tex-Mex place. It was good, but not super memorable. (There are a number of better places in Houston and Austin).
I went to Red Lion Pub in Houston - that was really good. And the prices were right too.

Darwell's Cajun in Longbeach, MS - So-So have had much better.

The Fish House in Key Largo, FL - So-So My record at sorting out Guy Fieri's choices is not all that good

Primanti Borother's in Pittsburgh, Pa - OK - our son who lives in Pittsburgh took us because I wanted to try their stuff. Many other better places there to eat.

I'm sure we have been to places he went before or after we did. Maybe one of them was good.

I've been to a number of them. Honestly, I didn't realize he had done the show at any of the restaurants in Portland when I went to them. He's done 27 restaurants in Portland. I didn't realize he was that prolific.

Pine State Biscuits, Bunk Sandwiches, Pok Pok, Franks Noodle House, Otto's sausages are all outstanding and worth going to.

What was funny to me, is that apparently Pine State Biscuits was on a show featuring vegetarian sandwiches. I'm not sure which sandwich they featured on the show, but if you've ever been to PSB, you probably got their signature sandwich, which is the Reggie Deluxe and has fried chicken, bacon, fried egg, and sausage gravy on it. Ain't much about it that is vegetarian.
