Have cookies always been so expensive?

Is it just me, or are good cookies very expensive these days?
Great American Cookie Factory $2.59
Insomnia cookies $2.79
Costco has a new warm cookie for $2.50
Most of the local bakers and farmers markets charge $2.50-$3 for 1 cookie.
It bothers me to pay that much for a single cookie, but man I love em.

So, you want your delicious cookie to be on the value menu at a fast food joint? Over I’m guessing 3 quarters to a dollar more?

I mean. Sometimes its worth it to fork up some cash for those Gourmet Cookies from Whole Foods.
Those cheap cookies are good. Aint saying nothing wrong about them. Ive gorged many of night on cheap cookies and the dopamine hit that goes with the hyper plateable bio engineered cookie.
But somtimes, throw up 15.00 for a pack of those gourmet cookies from Whole Foods or Fresh Market.
The Dopamine hit is amazing.

Learn to bake them yourself. Cookies are damn near foolproof to make as long as you don't burn them.
My favorite are chocolate chip with pecans in them and I use the old "Neiman-Marcus Recipe" off the net. The story of how the recipe was acquired is total BS, but it makes for some good cookies. I can bake between 75-80 cookies damn near palm size that cost me less than $15 for ingredients.

Corporate Cookies. They are banking on fatties being too lazy to mix up 5 ingredients and place in oven. You’re paying for CEOs, Rent, HR, general overhead.

it's why I refuse to buy Crumbl Cookies or Carolines Cookies - they sell them cold

They tasted good, but I wasn't overwhelmed by the soft texture of them. I prefer a crisper type cookie with a bit of snap to them.
As mentioned in a prior post, I make most of the cookies we eat and pretty much stick to 3 types------chocolate chip with pecans, pecan sandies and Madelines.

The one with oatmeal, and I use real oatmeal, not that instant crap. Just be sure to use the amount of cups called for and I measure them before grinding in my food blender. The recipe I use calls for 5 cups and once ground, it is around 1/4 less in volume.
I use ungreased cookie sheets and make 2 dozen at a time and put them on cooling racks to cool.

My wife managed to screw up some chocolate chip cookies this weekend without burning them. Look perfect on the plate, but if you drop one, you might crack the granite countertops

Ah, like the running gag on the old "Beverly Hillbillies" TV series. Elly May was a looker but ruined everything she tried to cook with things coming out like bricks.

Carolines is good, but Insomnia definitely has a leg up because they serve them warm. I know Carolines advertises how to warm them up but it's just not the same.

I bought a the big Kitchaid mixer when my kids were teens, they about burned it up mixing cookies, saved me a ton on snacks. It amazed me how much skinny kids can eat.
