But I've searched and can't find that one from the last year or so about the best tamales in Baton Rouge.

Who's got a better tamale than Pimanyolis? Anything like Mufolottas (I can never get the spelling right, lol). Pimanyolis aren't far of those.

Hate to get in this but I've never had a tamale I liked. They are always dry and flavorless. Even from neighboring hispanic houses. I don't get the appeal

Man Muffalato's Hot Tamale's were the shite! I miss that place.
Check out Mestizo's and Doe's, with chili. Both are awesome.

I’ve had tamales with chili the last two nights. Locally made for a farmers market. Delicious.

Wingin' It on Jefferson at HooShooToo has some that are locally made. I think they are as good or better than Pinmanyoli's. They're served in a big bowl of the broth which also is a plus.

My mom brought me some the other night. Is it called Pass a Dozen?

If not, Pass a dozen are real good tamales. We are good friends with the Muffalato family and we can't get them to divulge the recipe for anything.

El Salvordian has great ones that are slightly different than your typical tamale. I guess it’s a Salvadoran style.

Nearly every tamale I've had was dripping with grease. Definitely not dry.

Chili powder, lime juice, and a dash of hot sauce will prove it flavorful.

I love tamales (including Pimanyoli's - grew up on Muffaletta's). Recently tried some trying to recreate New Orleans' "Manuel's" - which were very different from our "Delta style" in Baton Rouge, but were a pre-Katrina favorite. This guy has gotten very close and his are delicious if you spot him down in the Crescent City - recommened! https://www.facebook.com/Billy-Wrights-Manuels-Style-Hot-Tamales-199801254273379/

I'm with you 100%, as I've tried to give them many chances from very authentic places, but I just don't understand the love for a tamale.
