Partying with some fellas from sulphur. Water was bland as hell. Straight crab boil sprinkled on top. Beautiful crawfish too. I told the guy who bought them he wasted his money. Spicy as frick. Why subject your hands and face to this?

This.

I don't like them boiled the way you describe. I always season the hell out of my water.

But if the guy who boiled them footed the bill, and all you did was eat...you don't really have a complaint to stand on.

The replies to your post nailed it. His coin, his recipe/method. If anything, you've gained the experience of knowing that if he invites you to another one it's probably gonna be another shitty boil. Then you can either pass on the invite or offer to pitch in and boil them yourself using your favorite recipe/method.

Apparently, you already did. If you aren't invited back, then it will work out for both you and the host.

I realize that commenting on crawfish cooking style is like telling a guy how to cook his steak, but did he know what he was doing? I've been to many a boils where they think they know what they are doing but in reality have only done it a handful of times with little to no experience outside of what they've done so they are pretty clueless.

Some people just like their sprinkling on top too, I don't get it but to each their own.

But, do you tell the person who bought and/or boiled them that you don't like them?

nothing will ever be worse than the company boil thrown by my then boss who was baptist. No beer allowed and I swear the only seasoning that was used was salt..It was the only time in my life I didn't finish a tray.

People that just season by sprinkling on top need to be kicked in the nuts assuming they still have them.

Guy who bought them didn't cook. They had 15 people there all trying to stir the pot. I just drank. He even said they were spicy. Them baws just can't cook.

I disagree. As a host, you have an obligation to put forth a quality product. The Host mailed it in with the crappy crawfish. Ruining a crawfish boil is inexcusable in Louisiana.
