Holy crap it was good. I usually don't like plain king cakes but it was freaking fantastic

They are spectacular, my favorite in the city. Was this from the bakery itself? I know that Pizza Nola has a pop-up and am curious as to how they compare to those from the bakery.

Pizza Nola, Hi-Volt, and Amore Café all get daily deliveries from Dong Phuong.
I've purchased from all three this year and all have been as fresh as straight from the bakery.

yeah, they spoiled me. I had my first one a few weeks ago. Ever king cake I have brought home since has given me DP regret.

Though bad king cakes make great bread pudding I've come to find out.

My wife bought one from the pizza place in lakeview. I'm in cutting season so I haven't had it but it smells delicious.

Thanks for the info. Love their king cakes!

On a related note, my wife said a co-worker picked up a king cake in Ponchatoula that had a strawberry filling, and was excellent. Anyone know the source from that limited info? The co-worker apparently couldn't remember the name of the place...

I don't like king cake but got one two weeks ago at the bakery and it was awesome. The sandwiches there were awesome as well.

Yeah, they are cheap, like $2.75 for some. They have like 12 different sandwiches too.

The bread is so fresh from them. I always fill a bag or two of banh mi bread when I go. I wish they would sell po-boy length.

What bothers me is DP doesn't sell hamburger buns, yet they do make them for restaurants. I always ask, I guess that is a special thing.

I have a king cake from Marguerite Cakes in Slidell. It is the best king cake I've had in my long life.
