They didn’t last long in Nashville. I doubt they’ll last long in New Orleans either.

Nashville is all about hot chicken. The same can't be said for New Orleans - or anywhere else for that matter, right?

I believe it will be a tough sell in N.O. Hell, Popeye's is the fast food go-to place for fried chicken and they've been here since the 70's.

Gus’s isn’t fast food though

Looks like battered fried chicken. You don't get the same good crunchies as regular double dredged fried chicken.

The chicken looks like Willie Mae's, which is a treat now and then.

Sides look like BULL. Dont come to NOLA with that bush league shee hee.

Go to McClures on Mondays for fried chicken and red beans. With the white bbq sauce.

This is crazy, this is an article today- https://nola.eater.com/maps/best-fried-chicken-new-orleans-nola

Gus' is some delicious chicken. Have had it quite a few times when I was in Memphis.

If it's even half as good as the one in Memphis, it will still be better than any fried chicken N.O. currently has to offer.

If it's half as good as the original location in Mason, Tennessee, then it will be exactly as good as the Gus's in Memphis (which has no relationship with the original, apart from the name).

You are wrong you know^...
Memphis was the second location, same owners. I used to live next door and would chat with the owners from time to time. One person at each location new the recipe back then and when they went on vacation, Gus's shut down. Food is based on opinion and in mine, it will be right there with the best, I have no idea how they get it as juicy as they do...

Maybe you should try it. It's like giving us a book review by looking at the cover.
Their chicken is legit. The only thing I would go back to Memphis for. Better than their BBQ for sure.

Not anymore. It's OK but it is not what it used to be, not even close

I think Gus makes great Fried Chicken. Some of the best I've ever had. I'd go with Gus when I have 30-40 minutes to wait for them to make my chicken after ordering. Unfortunately their sides are trash. As a complete package, I'd take a properly prepared Popeyes over Gus though.

Most people will compare Gus with Willie Mae's anyways.

How do you include chicken sandwiches and not include the Chick-Syl-Vain at Sylvain?

Comparing Gus's to Popeyes is like comparing an LPG burger to McDonalds.

Thats what it looks like with the almost tempura sort of crust.

Willie Mays is a bit overly generous with the kosher salt..
