Gumbo sausage recommendation

Need sausage recommendation for chicken and sausage gumbo. The kind I normally use is not available anymore but I still need to impress people since gumbo is one thing I make right. A friend from Minnesota claims that he makes the best gumbo and I need to wipe the floor with him. I'm in BR and can get all the local flavors easily.

Go to the Veron's grocery store in Lutcher if you can for smoked sausage
For andouille? Wayne Jacobs in Laplace

If you can order from Bourque's or The Best Stop, you'll be in fine shape.
Bourque's
The Best Stop
Go with Bourque's smoked sausage and Best Stop's Andouille.
but both have good sausage and andouille, you can't go wrong if you just order from either one.

None of the previous answers are wrong. My personal preference is smoked sausage from Rod's supermarket in Church Point. I make the trip every year for my Christmas eve gumbo. Lots of real smoke flavor and the right amount of spice. It's about 3-4 hours round trip for me, but I stop at Kartchner's on the return trip and get some more goodies. If I was time crunched, Benoit's in Addis is my second choice.

Lots of good andouilles to choose from. Pick a local company and your gumbo will be just fine. I’m more concerned about the local baw competing against a Minnesota guy for gumbo…and not knowing what kind of sausage to get.
