We’ll be down there for 4-5 days playing baseball this week. Pretty sure my kid will impress some scouts and become the first 4th grader ever drafted. But I digress.

Questions:
We are staying at Margaritaville. How is it? Hopefully it’s not Chucky Cheese on steroids...

Where is the best beer store near there?

What non-casino restaurants are best? Not looking for formal. Laid back with good food. Outdoor seating a plus.

Any good dive type bars to slip
off to nearby?

Any recs on kid entertainment between games, outside of the resort?

Hops and Growlers, Mookie and Sals for pizza and beer, Biloxi Brewing is in the area, and Chandeleaur is only 15 minutes away.

Plenty in Ocean Springs area, across from the baseball stadium is a decent breakfast place. Biscuits were fantastic.... Then you have the Blind Tiger TBT

They have the bumper cart/bowling alley/arcade across from Shaggy's

I lived there for a few years pre-Katrina and sneak over every year or so.
Went to Margaritaville once, it was OK. They've changed ownership since then. Like when I was there, they didn't have a hotel
Best beer stores: There's a discount tobacco store on U.S. 90 in Waveland/Bay St. Louis that is where I usually stop. Can't remember the damn name, but its in a blue building with a drive through. I think they have a sign up talking about all the beers they have.

We're big fans of Government Street Grocery in Ocean Springs, just across from Biloxi (it's a short jaunt from Margaritaville to there). It's a casual place with really good burgers and beer. Adventures is a joint in downtown Biloxi that has good burgers and wraps. A lot nicer than those two is Mary Mahoney's. It's a classic place - drink at the bar and get the crab claws. The Project Lounge isn't too far from Margaritaville - they had great burgers there back in the day.

There's a gigantic shopping center in D'Iberville, just north of Biloxi on I-110 that had an indoor mini golf and arcade setup. Looks like they have a bowling alley there. There's all sorts of stuff in this shopping center -- a movie theater, every restaurant chain known to man, a bowling alley.

Not exactly the classiest joint and you have to watch out for shelf turds, but you get free ice. The wife is from BSL.

Bacchus isn’t bad, Leo’s pizza in OS and shaggys isn’t terrible and isn’t far. Phonecia and Charred are solid in OS too.

The shuckers may be playing and it is ridiculously cheap to catch a game.

Double Shoppe One Stop is a good beer store, less then a minute off the interstate. Losts of craft beers and you can mix and match all of them.

What he said.

My kids absolutely love the water slides and pool. Of course there was a plethora of tats but I’ve seen worse for sure.

The restaurants on site are ok. Convenient obviously but not outstanding food. About same caliber of casino food. Maybe slightly better. They did have bloom on draft at bar next to arcade.

Lots of good places downtown OS which is very close to resort. Murky waters bbq is a must.

Sal and mookies and the reef have best beer selections.

Mulllet hop and altitude trampoline parks, cypress lane bowling, grand theater bowling, outlet mall, Lynn meadows children’s museum, Gulfport water park, mini golf at scarlet pearl casino all fun for kids. But honestly, pool and arcade at Margaritaville are super fun. It’s our go to place.

Ship island ferry leaves dock at Margaritaville if you have an entire free day. Wear sunscreen!

Sorry, it kind of is.

Like someone said, The Double Stop One Shoppe, north of 10 on the Ocean Springs exit has the best selection as far as stores go.

Adventures down the block from Sal & Mookie's, across from Half Shell Oyster House is what you're looking for. A big step above regular "pub fare". Great burgers but get the 'pig wings' for an app.

*BIG HEADS UP*
They are constructing an elevated walkway between MGM Park and Beau Rivage that cuts down lanes of traffic from 3 to two in both directions at the foot of 110. Traffic has been shite, especially HWY90 eastbound before the 110 exit. So, staying at Mville, take exit 50 Ocean Springs, get some good beer at Double Stop, and then take 609 south to 90 and go west over the bay bridge to get there. Way less headaches.

And if you eat at Doe's, holla at Paulie. Dude knows his steaks.

Tatonut in Ocean Springs have awesome donuts. Made with potato flour.

Buzzy's in OS

Fill Up with Billups in Biloxi

Waffle House and Whataburger

Not too many options out there. Some good breakfast if you go over to BSL, though

I love Le Bakery...though obviously not a traditional breakfast. Pick up sone Banh Mi for later in the day. The French cold cut one is excellent.

Shaggys seems like another coastal beach bum eat place but we’ve had great experiences there.

Leo’s pizza in OS

It is no longer LEO's. It's now a place called GYRO's. I ate there a couple of weeks ago and the food was really good. Had cheese rolls and the Falafel stuffed w/ pepperjack cheese and diced jalapeños for apps. Had the Buffalo Soldier and Funky Meaters pizzas which were good also.

I haven’t lived out there in about 6yrs, but I could sworn it was still Leo’s at the end of April. We didn’t stop b/c we ate bbq before heading to the preserve. Used to go there all the time.
