I suppose the haze heads won’t care, but I sure enjoyed some West Coast IPA and Duet when I could find it fresh.
RIP.

San Diego, CA) – As a conclusion to Green Flash Brewing ending their national expansion strategy, closing Virginia Beach and Cellar 3, we have just learned that Green Flash Brewing, Inc.’s largest shareholder, Comerica Bank has foreclosed on it’s loans due to outstanding debt and poor business health and that Green Flash and Alpine assets have been sold to a risk management company in Michigan named WCIPA, LLC. We are still trying to learn more about this company. Here is the official memo that Green Flash President and CEO Mike Hinkley sent to over 100 shareholders this morning.

They should have left the recipe for West Coast IPA alone, they totally ruined that beer.

I member. That was back when I was dabbling in mavenism so I could argue with the OG mavens on here about how bad their beer was. Hop Head Red was one of the first hoppy beers I really liked. Never really cared for West Coast. Rip Hop Head Red.

Pretty much the only "beer" my wife would drink was their Passion Fruit Kicker.

They died in my eyes when they discontinued Rayon Vert.

Ya. For what. 3 days?
The thread is still on the first page.
I didn't expect to be validated so quickly and easily I must admit.

When more breweries close than open in a year, you can come back and claim validation
Until then, your "hot take" is the same hot take that has been around for 5 years now

The
Some of your beer people are insufferably uptight.

They didn't really do the recipes justice when they scaled them up in the first place.
I don't think they're done for good though. The Alpine and Green Flash assets were sold to a new company called WCIPA, LLC. The president of that new company was the president of Green Flash.
I think this was part of the reorg to fully divest of the Virginia stuff and pay the bank back whatever they could.
If they are done, I wonder what happens to the recipes for some of the good beers. Just because the brewery failed doesn't mean they didn't make good stuff at some point.
I wonder if there is a brewery out there that would want to brew the old recipe of West Coast IPA, licensing the Green Flash name or just flat out buying the recipe.

I remember Palate Wrecker being a big thing when you could find it on tap around town.
