The restaurant under scrutiny was Iberville Seafood just off Bourbon. This was apparently filmed just over a month or two ago and the scenes of the kitchen area were simply BEYOND belief ! Rotting food in the walk in cooler, month old oil in the fryers, cockroaches everywhere etc. My question is....WHERE are the N.O. health inpectors ? Those conditions were present for some time...are N.O. restaurants not fully inspected on a monthly basis OR is this just another disconcerting aspect of how most things are run in that city ! remember the Hard Rock collapse with the city building 'inspector' falsifying reports and her city vehicle gps showing she was actually at home while reporting she was on all of her jobsite calls,as required ! Was this moron fired ? HOW can a city be 'run' in such a haphazard borderline criminal manner ? How many other city departments are as negligent...WHO is watching the 'hen-house' down there ?

Still can’t get the images of the FQ Oceana Grill kitchen from one of the Kitchen Nightmares shows. Would never go there if they re-did the kitchen 5x.

Have you never watched Kitchen Nightmares? Every episode is like that and it's filmed all over the country. Also some of it's fake.

Oceana sued them (twice) because apparently they made a lot of shite up. They sued in 2011 and then in 2018 when they continued to use the contested footage years later to make it look like it was still a mess.

Don’t believe everything you see on TV.

If there's no drama, they make it. That's why reality tv isn't really reality.

I had a short stint as a production assistant (on location) for a reality show many years ago when reality shows were considered a new thing and everyone started doing one. Mid 00's. It was a pretty big production- Director Tony Sacco.

Yes, 90% of the shite is staged. Not always staged on location, but staged in the editing room, stitching shite together that didn't happen that way. Say someone drops a glass, and someone says a "Oh shite" that is real. But you'll never see the glass dropping scene you just hear the audio "oh shite" overdubbed over a completely different scene where nobody actually said "oh shite" but the producer really wanted an "oh shite" in the scene. All of that little stuff combined with the actual blatantly staged things makes these shows anything but reality.

why are you capitalizing random words?

also, WHY are you SO concerned about a shithole tourist trap restaurant IN the FQ that you’ll NEVER visit? Health inspectors go ONCE or TWICE a year and usually you know they ARE coming. And IF you just don’t GIVE a frick you can REMAIN open while cleaning UP your violations

Why would they sign up for a show called Kitchen Nightmares? Did they not know the point is to make a place look like total garbage only to be saved by the host? Did they not know that it was going to be overly dramatic and edited to look as bad as possible?

The old UK version of Kitchen Nightmares had some serious vomit inducing refrigerators and pantries. Even back then I wondered how much of the show was faked. or maybe I was hoping it was faked because I don't want to believe that inspectors allow places like that to stay open.

It was on one of the tv's at the gym the other day while I was doing cardio. What I saw was revolting.

As others have said, I take plenty on those shows with a grain of salt, but damn.
