Who in the world would laugh at this? Grilled bread is fantastic.

I used to be firmly in the salt only camp, but have recently started giving steaks a light dusting of Teets cajun seasoning, wrapping in paper towels and foil and leaving them in the fridge for a couple of days.

because its the same as marinating steaks in some oil and herbs, which would be perfectly acceptable

Not at all. I use a sour dough or a ciabatta or even focaccia, sometimes, and brush them with olive oil and sometimes rub garlic over it. A flavored olive oil also works.

Marinating (to me)steaks is unacceptable in so many ways. But it's his money and his taste buds so have at it.

Avocados on the halfshell with a cracked egg (or better yet, a schucked oyster) in the middle

Grilled Caesar Salad is pretty darned good. We eat it often in the summer.

Grill some slices of baguette, brushed with olive oil, to go with.

Skip the steak if you’re going to bathe it in dressing.

Get a prize pizza, slather the underside in olive oil and throw it on the grill (lid down).

My point was that grilled bread isn't some new crazy invention.

Take a boneless chicken thigh lay it across two strips of bacon shaped like a cross.

in the middle of the thigh put a small scoop of cream cheese plus a sliver of onion and bell pepper. roll up thigh and using tooth pick attach the two strips of bacon to the outside of thigh.

Grill till done.
